Sorry I can't help you on this one Lilith1980, I'm not competent in the DIY area!
But I was wondering if you could help me? Are there any good websites I should check for reasonably priced showers as ours has just packed up. One that comes from the wall, not a bath tap attachment, or anyone else that could help?
Thanks0 -

Are you referring to an electric shower or a conventional shower? 'Comes from the wall' is not really enough to go on...No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Hi, thanks for your advice. Sounds so bloomin complicated.
I should have mentioned - the bathroom is actually downstairs, so provided the tank is fairly high up in the house, may this be OK?
Ormus - what is is CH/DHW system? Being daft again.
How complicated are electric showers to set up? Would this mean ripping out wall tiles? Want minimum disruption really as it's not my own place.0 -
CH = Central Heating. DHW = Domestic Hot Water.
An electric shower requires a cold water supply, and a power supply running as a dedicated circuit from the consumer unit. So yes, some retiling would be required. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
sorry.
i meant the central heating/domestic hot water, system/s.
there are two basic types. (most common).
1. a modern combi system with no storage tanks of any kind.
2. an open gravity system, with normal open boiler, a cold water tank in the loft (maybe 2) and a hot water storage cylinder, (with immersion heater).
with the number two system, you need a good CWS tank "head" to supply a plumbed in shower.
combis are easy to plumb for a shower.
electric showers will work in any house.Get some gorm.0 -
Hi
Ask the letting agent how hot water is supplied. (note; don't ask if it has a combi, let them make the choice and see if they actually know anything;) )
Unless you are dealing directly with the landlord. Then ask him/her.

Hi all, thanks for your replies peeps.
Got to see another house this afternoon so will see what that is like, but if not will go for the house I saw this morning and see where the land lies regarding the water and heating systems etc.
Thanks0 -
To be honest if you come over as a good tenant and it is only the shower which is stopping you from renting it the landlord may well sort it out for you if you mention it to the letting agent.
More often than not changing the taps for a bath shower mixer is a very straight forward process, yes it can get complicated in some cases but how you've described the layout i'd say with either system you would be fine0
