Question re giffgaff
While browsing on here the other day I saw mention of giffgaff and did some searching and it seemed like it was a potentially good deal.
When I look now all the posts I saw referring to giffgaff seem to have disappeared.
This makes me somewhat suspicious. Can someone tell me why the posts have disappeared? Is giffgaff a scam or is it for real?
The call charges seem to be much the same as Asda so I think I will probably move to Asda as I've become very wary of giffgaff - especially as the posts I saw recommending it were made by two different posters each with post counts of 2.
Any thoughts anyone?

Perhaps cos it looks like a pyramid scheme!, the rates are no different to asda mobile, so what is the big deal about it? Think I would trust asda over giffgaff0

I completely agree about trusting Asda. The free calls and texts between giffgaff users looked appealing but there is something that doesn't quite look right and the fact that posts on here have disappeared made me wonder. Supposedly it is owned by O2 which makes it look more legit.0

If you do a forum search, there are plenty of threads still remaining which include mention of giffgaff.
It's a legitimate virtual network on O2, and not a scam.
I didn't necessarily see the same posts which you think have been removed, but one possible reason is that there is a refer a friend scheme which gets a bonus credit for the new user and some points for the referrer. It may be that some of the posts you saw were directly or indirectly soliciting referrals, which would necessarily involve exchange of personal details, and be outside the rules of this forum.
Removal of a few such posts shouldn't make you judge against the thing as a whole0 -
theres a rather dubious promotion going on at the moment for this network , loads of new members joining purelyto promote it.
any GENUINE posts are leftEx forum ambassador

I think I'll steer clear of it at the moment then.

Further to Browntoa's post regarding the promotion of giffgaff I'd suggest any user who has joined to promote this company read the FAQ and Rules here...

They are, however, encouraged by the company ...

It's not a promotion by the company itself, but some customers, probably mainly students getting carried away
The students are engaged by Giff Gaff as ambassadors.
