T-Mobile G2 Touch or Samsung Galaxy Portal
Options
It is end of contract time again.
I had persuaded myself I was going to keep it simple, get the Vodaphone Sim only deal for £10pm (12 month contract) 300mins + 3000 texts (overkill for me) deal via Topcashback.s £90 cashback deal,so the net cost would be about £2.50 per month. I'd planned to buy a Samsung S5200 coz I love the look, feel and ease of use of that phone.
Before ordering anything I called T-Mobile for my PAC and was offered the following.
A Sim only 12m contract, £5pm for 600 mins and more texts than I'll use. Sounded good to me!
OR
A phone upgrade. The phone I wanted couldn't be offered, but the guy told me about Android , explaining it meant I'd have internet access without any extra charge. He also told me that I could plug the android phone into my laptop and browse at roughly dial-up speeds. Now if that is for real it would be really useful!
The Samsung Galaxy Portal was suggested, or the T-Mobile G2 Touch if I preferred that.
The deal is that I use my discounts to get 300 calls, 300 texts and a flexible booster for £17pm over an 18 month contract.
I cannot work out which version of Android the T-Mobile phones have, can anyone help me find out please? Which would you go for?
And is plugging an android phone into my laptop a realistic proposition or just one of those "it will do it but will be so cumbersome you won't bother after a couple of goes" scenarios?
Thanks

My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead

The G2 Touch is the HTC Hero by another name. I'd take that over the Portal.0

persuade them to let you have the HTC desire instead of the G2
That is the current model.0 -
Thanks for your responses.
Having slept on it I've decided not to go for the android phones, I'm sure they are good but it is a lot of extra money for something I might like and enjoy but don't actually need.
The £5 for 600 mins deal and a handset I'm confortable with will do me nicely. My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead
