His mother is also interested as she has favourite phrases. One is 'lunch will be provided' and another is 'staff discount'

His mate is clearly from a 'different' kind of household to this as he doesn't think tracky bottoms need to be ironed *shrug*.

Didn't know that you could iron trackies! ;) Must get an application form for DS1 tonight when I go shopping. There's a Mr M just a few minutes away from here.

Valli, I'm not looking forward to the teenage years at all although they are seeming a lot closer now as DD is perfecting the sulky look :(. Any top tips?!

Steely resolve, crystal clear rules, bags of patience and somewhere to go when you need to vent. The best advice someone gave me was never to stop talking. That's really helped (just wish DH had listened to it, too :() . Good luck. ;)

Hello everyone. I went to visit my bereaved friend this morning. She's bearing up, and expecting lots of family to visit next week. I stayed and chatted for an hour, but probably won;t see much more of them until after the funeral.

Good news - DH and I went and collected 5 new hens this morning :j:j:j:j:j:j:j They're now happily exploring their quarters, and we hope for fresh eggs next week :T

DH and I have spent the afternoon planting in the garden, but it's now cold and windy. I'm having a cup of tea and some cake, then I'm going to tidy up outside, and then do an hour's sewing :T

Nasty Head has said that I'm not allowed to visit at all as it will be too disruptive for the children, which is a shame, as I'd hoped to visit them and the members of staff who are friends.

......... and she calls herself a teacher *roll eyes smilie*. Children are very adaptable - why ever would they be disrupted by a visit from a friend. I never fail to be astonished by the behaviour of some teachers :mad::mad::mad: though the vast majority of you are stars :A

Please pass on my best to Sandy - I hope to go and visit her in the near future :)

Rose - have a Flylady hug from me too :A

Toots - enjoy your visit from A, W and their mum! And never forget that Yorkshire Hugs are best :T

See you all later, Penny. x

I think I'm making progress with the utility room... I appear to have managed to clear some surfaces, and have found where the builders hid stuff I've been looking for... There's still a pile of junk in the corner, but that'll have to wait till the shed is delivered.

Suppose I'd better get the washing up done, and then make a start on the loo (a bigger task that you'd think, as the back wall is all bookshelves... and due to the levels of dust recently, they all need to come out and be put back...

Keep talking, and move from them being your children who you tell what to do, to adults who you reason with. I heard recently that you should treat your teens like you treat your boss - don;t speak to them in a way that you wouldn;t talk to your colleagues or friends :D

I think with teenagers some of the same rules apply as with training dogs and toddlers, but then I only teach them, I don't have to actually live with any yet.

The most important thing is the ability to let them have a tantrum without panicking and desperately trying to stop the tantrum, IMHO.

Speaking of tantrums, DH has done over half of the bedroom ceiling, haven't looked at the colour of the carpet yet...

duvet in the interrupted by potty training~! eta washing machine!

The 1st coat is on.:j It's going to take a lot to cover that pink though. OH unscrewed everything that could be unscrewed and the boys helped me move the rest of the stuff out. I've just slung some chicken nuggets and chips in the oven :o and i may start sanding one of the cabinets while it cooks. I've got to go and pick up a chair i've bought on Ebay later. I mught have chance to get another coat on the walls after that depending on what OH has planned for us tonight.;)

Big hugs Rose i hope you feel better soon. a cry and a sleep would probably do you the world of good.

Have a great time with Toots, Miss A & Master W.
