Congratulations, you just failed your practical driving test (this exact question can be asked on a driving test).
I have been driving for 21 years, not a single penalty point nor a single accident:j...surley if they are going to fail people on this stupid thing, they should ensure that all manufacturers put the information in the same place rather than glove box, fuel flap, driver door..etc0 -

Bet you've seen loads in your rear view mirror
If you drive fully loaded all the time use the higher pressure..
If you only have 2-3 in the car most of the time use the lower..0 -
You don't fail for this alone at all. In fact, once you say that you would check the car's manual (which the OP did), that would satisfy that part of the question and would be accepted. The examiner isn't going to check each individual manual to verify whether it's really there.Congratulations, you just failed your practical driving test (this exact question can be asked on a driving test).0 -

Yes - that's what I thought.
Have they been changing the show me /tell me part of the test again though? I can't remember this question being one of the ones I had to learn in 2008.0 -
thank you guys..i found them on the fuel flap for the mercedes and in the glove box of the toyota. my question now is in both cars there is pressure for when the car is loaded with 5 or 7 passengers and lower pressure for when there are only 2 or 3 passengers...shall i just put the higher pressure? will that give better fuel effeciency even when there is only me in the car?
You should inflate the tyres to a pressure which reflects the general usage of the vehicle.
Don't over-inflate tyres to save money on fuel, it's dangerous.0 -
glad i came accross this as i needed to knwo this earlier as my tyres were low the man in the garage told me to look inside my door but nothing there any way he advised me to put in 30 and no higher does any one know is this for all 4 tyres i have a peugeot 307
only usually 2 people in my car
thanks jacki0 -
Yes, but not that tyre question. It's been part of the questions since introduction in 2003. The question is: Tell me where you would find the information for the recommended tyre pressures for this car and how tyre pressures should be checked.Have they been changing the show me /tell me part of the test again though? I can't remember this question being one of the ones I had to learn in 2008.0 -

My handbook has 3 pressures - standard, loaded and ECO - ECO being 35 psi all round...
Don't know what the safety implications are of using the 'eco' pressures though.....0 -
30psi is fine infact i always put 30psi is there is no stickerglad i came accross this as i needed to knwo this earlier as my tyres were low the man in the garage told me to look inside my door but nothing there any way he advised me to put in 30 and no higher does any one know is this for all 4 tyres i have a peugeot 307
