Clever Atlantic...
Options
Just as I was waiting for my quarterly Gas & Electric statement from Atlantic, I received a letter saying they've changed their meter reading service and the next bill will be around the end of May, not now.
Clever Atlantic as now was the time I was going to compare and switch! I wanted to use actual info.

Can you not take your own meter reading?
There's no guarantee when the statement does arrive it'll be based on an actual meter reading."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
I usually do take my own and enter it on their web site. The actual info I wanted was a real statement of cost not my direct debits.0

I have also received this letter:eek:Bad timing with the biggest bill of the year about to drop on the mat an extra two months wait that's not far off 2 bills rolled in one.
I too was going to think about switching as i have been paying my bill on time and not getting the money off my next bill for paying on time as it says on the bill pay this bill before x.y.z and get £s off your next one never do thou.0 -
Just phone them up with a meter reading, they'll generate you a bill. You could do this weekly or monthly if you really wanted, and any supplier will oblige. When you receive the bill, get your kWh from there and do a comparison
Sadly, I don't think they're doing it just because you want to switch
saver 1 if they have not been crediting you with Prompt Payment discount and that matters to you, contact them to complain. It may be a simple system error that can be rectified with a couple of clicks. If they don't realise it's not being credited then they can't do anything about it. Also, it may be that the method of payment you are using (e.g. bank transfer, cheque or paying at the post office) isn't clearing in time and this is why you aren't getting your discount. Best to phone and find out.0 -

So why not pay on monthly direct debit and avoid that problem?
Or you can always make a payment on account at any time.
Paying quarterly on receipt of bill invariably locks you out of all the best tariffs too.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Hi Kayjsmith7 Thanks for the info. I pay the bill as soon as i get it well before the prompt payment day. I will ring them and find out why I'm not getting it.
Hi macman. Direct debit does not appeal to me never has done with any Bill i prefer the old fashioned pay when you get it rather than paying up front every month.0 -
Your choice of course, but it's probably costing you far more overall by not using DD.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Either way, the default position from Atlantic is to delay sending the largest bill of the year for another 2 months. This is at a time when they know competitors have lowered their gas tariff and people may be looking to move when they have actual quarterly consumption figures.0
