Money In Account After Death

With no will there is an executor appointed but rules have to be followed as too who that person is. Its not clear that those rules have been followed here although they may have been I'm slightly concerned that they haven't!
Not the case.
If there is no will there is no executor.
If letters of administration are applied for then an administrator is appointed.

If the estate was worth more than £5000 then letters of administration should be applied for.
Rules and terms used are different in Scotland.0 -
Apologies .... it is as you say an Administrator thats appointed not an Executor when no will is present.0

If Lloyds are happy to release funds of up to £15,000, then you just need to make sure your mother provides them with the documents they need.
It might be a good idea if you can accompany her on future visits to the bank (especially if she has a perceived problem with the guy she is dealing with), in order that you are both clear on what needs doing.
It shouldn't ever be necessary for your auntie to be there in person but make sure she completes all the paperwork they need.0 -
I'd like to suggest that the OP and anyone else dealing with a death for the first time reads the links provided above regarding what to do if there is a will and also what to do if there is no will.
Another useful source of info is a book from the library - Which magazine do a good one.
A leaflet from Citizens Advice Bureau may also suggest other things you need to do - e.g notify pensions/benefits office ( although think they are automatically notified when death is registered).
Also suggest it might be better for OP to deal direct with Lloyds bereavement dept0
