  • Hi,

I have two female rabbits, we believe to be sisters, they have allways lived together and hate not being able to see each other. I have just had them spayed today and it cost £60 each. We have never had any problems with fighting etc.
  • well then I might as well admit that I've also tasted their medication :D:D

I tried the antibiotic to find out why they wouldn't eat it (turns out it's really bitter) and I tried the painkiller cos a bit got on my tongue by mistake while I was opening the bottle with my teeth. Tasted of honey briefly before my entire motuh went numb because of it!

  • Great news :) I agree that a lot of bunnies are much happier on the floor, I two super friendly rabbits but they do prefer me to sit on the floor to cuddle them, than to pick them up.

  • We have 2 Netherland Dwarf rabbits for the children and they are great pets as long as you are aware of the characteristics of rabbits, they are not like cats and tend not be like being cuddled or picked up.
Ours are 'free range' in the garden and have a shed to sleep in at night, they run round us in circles when we go out and come running over to the back door as soon as they see us. They will happily sit with the kids in the garden and be petted, but they do not like being picked up.
We got our oldest from a breeder who handled them regularly and then went back and got an elderly female who had done all her breeding and was no longer needed (we are her retirement home!). Both are neutered, which is recommended for health and often for temperament.

So there we are, with our old rabbit of 2 years old. He is a buck, roams the garden all the time. Having to keep him in the hutch now more, to let the grass grow back. His partner died a few months back so we were looking for a replacement.

Going through the adverts in the paper, we find a lop-eared doe rabbit with hutch for £15.00, bargain. Arrange for collection, view the rabbit. Large white & fluffy, very friendly. She will do.

Get her home, and the 2 rabbits meet, then not so long after they start to hump. No issues as we had our rabbit neuted not to long ago. :)

Anyway, the other rabbit returned the humping favor to our own rabbit, figured this could be some weird rabbit thing, then we noticed our rabbit was all wet on the rear..

Daft lad here had forgot to sex the rabbit on viewing, and took the owners words. So now were left with 2 male rabbits that like to hump each other all day long, and just run around after each other.

Good news though, we wasted £60 on having the rabbit done but the new one is the same size as Mr Fluffy so can fend him off..

I would get rid of the new rabbit, but he is so friendly and fluffy...

    :rotfl:
  • If they're happy then they're happy lol Just watch out for them if they start to fight when they get abit older... but it sounds like they're quite happy haha x

we've got 2 male rabbits - we've not had them done , so they would fight or hump if we let both of them out at the same time
  • they may start to fight - my friend had two male rabbits that were like this, till one ripped the others scrotum open in a fight - she had to have him castrated as an emergency op
