CCTV footage presumably shows hime collecting something from the car and passing it to someone else. What evidence do the police have that the 'something' was drugs (other than son's uncorroborated 'admission')? I agree completely with the suggestion that advice is taken from a solicitor, but my layman's interpretation is that the police have no evidence to take to court and I suspect the CPS wouldn't entertain a prosecution. But IANAL ...

What a load of twaddle, of course you're told it.
There's no 'of course' at all. Police officers frequently break the law and routinely ignore guidelines. Stefan Kiszko anyone?
When you go into interview and the officers give you the spiel, one of the first things you are told is you are free to leave at any time.
    Yeah right.
I used the term "released" to differentiate from being bailed out.
Then choose your words with more care. You cannot be 'released' if you have not been detained.
As for threatening people to stay - never ever seen that happen, and have never threatened anyone in my life. If someone attends the station voluntarily for an interview, then it is exactly that, and if they want to walk, then so be it.
Then you are to be congratulated. It's a pity that others don't adhere to the same philosophy.

offences commited under 18 are usually sealed when you become an adult and will not show up on a check so that may be some comfort if the worst does happen. This includes enhanced checks for working with children believe it or not.

Sorry but I am aware of a considerable number of instances when a juvenile caution or reprimand has shown up on an enhanced CRB check even after it would be considered spent for standard checks.

Not declaring it is when asked makes it even worse.

How the ISA will deal with them for the purposes of the new rules from November 2010 is not yet known.

If he has not committed an offence he must not accept a caution. He needs to be absolutely honest with his parents and he needs a good lawyer.

I don't think this has been mentioned yet but could your son be a runner? He might have 'needed' the money but has gotten in too deep?

my thoughts too - if he is a little naive/easily manipulated/keen to please, he may have been asked to pass things on to people in the past - its not uncommon, sadly - the lads parents do need to let him know being completely honest and open now is the best thing to do, and take it from there.

I think people often envision 'drug dealers' as being some sort of underground gangster figures - whilst the big time ones may be, lots of people will pass a bit of something on to friends on a semi regular basis - he may well be friendly with people at college who could get hold of drugs easily... I know when I was at college/university it would never have been much of a difficulty to get hold of E's, weed, speed etc..

I urge you to see a solicitor on Monday….. Don't say anything further about this without a solicitor sitting next to you/your son….. a solicitor is needed ASAP….. I would also say contact a solicitor asap..... ..... whatever they do simply repeat the request for the duty solicitor and wait..... A solicitor as others have said will be needed..... .get a criminal lawyer on this..... Agree solicitor is needed..... obtaining the advice of a solicitor would be the best approach..... on a duty solicitor..... a solicitor is necessary..... solicitors, definitely recommend you get one..... Clearly legal representation is needed..... a solicitor telling me his advice was always to ask for the duty solicitor..... you need to get a solicitor..... Get a good solicitor to help you..... Get a decent solicitor..... agreeing with the advice about a solicitor..... see a solicitor ASAP..... get advice from a solicitor first thing tomorrow..... Definitely needs GOOD legal advice..... a solicitor would give you advice..... criminal solicitors are there to get people out of trouble!!..... speak with a solicitor at the earliest opportunity..... He will be asked whether he wants the services of a solicitor. Say 'yes'..... seek legal advice before doing anything..... get legal advice before you do anything at all..... get him a good lawyer..... get a good lawyer..... advice is taken from a solicitor..... and he needs a good lawyer.....

I'm not sure but I think I might just be able to see a pattern developing....

I think once you're doing that kind of thing, it can be really hard to get out of it. If this lad really is a 'nice boy' he could have been too scared to say no.

That would be good, the OP has made a dozen or so posts since her last one on this thread.

    However, she DID say:
A friend on this site has asked me to post the following ...

" Hello, you probably know me as I've got a few thousand posts on this forum, but I prefer to remain anonymous...
so maybe she doesn't know what happened.
