I like LG TVs, I find they generally have great picture and sound quality, plus they're usually reasonably priced too and very reliable.
We have two 32" LGs, one of them being a full hd tv and I love them.
Great for watching movies and gaming, everything looks nice on them!

We had to replace our old tv just over 2 years ago and got an HD ready 32" Panasonic Viera LCD.
Six months later we put that in our bedroom and bought a 42" Panasonic Viera full HD plasma. It is fantastic, and I find the picture a lot better than other brands I have seen in friends homes.0 -
As far as I know Pioneer are stopping making tellies..
IMHO an extended warranty is essential, considering the inherent unreliability of flat screen tellies versus CRT and the high repair costs, however, don't pay over the odds for it, if possoble go with somewhere like richer sounds or john lewis.
Also, be aware that a lot of branded tellies contain innards from another manufacturer..0 -

Panasonic or Sharp all the way for me in IMHO. I've have sonys, sharps in the past but always found sonys to be expensive for the quality again only my opinion I know lots of ppl who swear by sony.
I currently have a four month old 42 inch panasonic plasma TX-P42X20B paid £600 and over 2 year old 32inch Sharp LCD cant remember the model.
Have had no problems with either set.
I did buy a Hitachi a few years back and although the picture was ok the sound was terrible on it, so been put off them.0 -

You are right on all your points. I heard that Pioneer - once the daddies of the Plasma TV market - have stopped making TVs. BTW - Panasonic and Technics are the same company.
Off topic - but I agree with your point about extended warranty and will be getting one when we buy. Flat panels are not proven like CRTs were. And if i am spending a good few hundred quid I want it to last, and have the cover if it doesn't, for at least 3 years.
The cheaper TVs I mentioned - Medion - have got Samsung panels I heard.
I am just so glad I waited to get a flat panel and didn't jump on the bandwagon like everyone else did and can now get a much better brand - with guarantee for not too much ££££!!!!
Thanks for all the help on here. I am still considering a Panny or a Sony - with guarantee.
The joke "cover" are the extortionate ones from places like Currys and Dixons - I will be getting it all up front.0 -

I believe it's Panasonic and Technics who are the same. Pioneer are a different entity.0 -
Picture quality can be tuned on all of them and there are only a few companies who make screens - so differences in picture can be minimal.
My mum in law bought the cheapest she could find in Asda - it does more than lots of the major brands (and more than she will ever need) and the picture is excellent.
Where cheaper TVs tend to fall down is on sound quality,0
