all elica extractors are good machines, but if you are recirculating you need to look into the cost of replacement filters. can you put up the link for the hood?
Hi
Here is the link, not necessarily where I would buy from. I intend to visit my local store (O'Gormans in Bicester) to say I want range cooker, cooker hood plus fridge freezer to see what deal I can do by buying all three from them.

Hope this helps.

Quick update, I now have a quote for Wentworth kitchen in for similar oak shaker. It was £20k+ but with a discount applied (not sure what the discount was for, he says he gives everyone 15% but some get more, mine was nearer 35% which makes me wonder and suspicious) and this brought the total cost down to about £50 more than my Burbidge quote.
I guess now I am interested in whether quality of Wentworth is better than that of Burbidge. Opinions from fitters and kitchen sellers would be great. (MWilletts & CKdesigner, where are you?)0 -
The Silestone cost is not excessive, simply because Silestone is a branded material sold at a premium, so even if you were able to find another supplier for that product there wouldn't be any huge saving.
Take a look at alternative brands of Quartz worktops, Silestone is nice but there are at least half a dozen other brands that are fundamentally the same. Don't fall for the marketing hype, these quartz surfaces are all made on the same machine no matter which company produces them.
So shopping around my save you £1000 + on the worktops if you're willing to look Beyond Silestone to say:-
Ceaserstone, ArenaStone, Compac, Cimstone etc etc - all the same.
Just for comparison purposes and making quite a few educated guesses at cupbard sizes I'd say you'd be able to cover that kitchen in Star Galaxy granite for around £2,000 - £2,500 including upstands and cooker splashback in matching material.
You should be able to get quartz down to a similar level.0 -
I consider you look a little further a field. I havent done an exact like for like quote as it would take a while but I could supply this kitchen for 7.5k I would have thought. Probably cheaper. I havent got a shop so my overheads are less and these savings can be passed onto the customer. So my advice would be to try some local independant kitchen fitters who supply the Burbridge Kitchen you like.Steve_the_fitter wrote: »
Cost of appliances is not included in the £10k, that's just the cabinets, doors, sink and the integrated lighting. I wonder how you consider I can get this cheaper? I am looking at burbidge lansdowne oak. My quote is from a very local company, and I think that there is only one other company locally that I could get a like for like quote on. This is the furniture involved -0 -
Hi leekat,
The design looks ok, but a few things are jumping out at me:
1) I don't see any kind of filler panel to the right hand side of the tall larder unit that is against the wall. This could cause problems when opening as a) it wont open a full 90 degrees and b) it will be forever banging against the wall when you open it.
2) The wall where the range cooker is looks very tight, if the walls aren't exactly square, you could run into problems.
3) The range cooker isn't central on the wall, if you are trying to make a feature of it (which the Glacier cooker hood will easily do) it should be as near to the centre as possible, not just for ease of planning
4) Why go to the expense of getting 660mm deep larder units made, when the standard depth of an american fridge freezer is between 685mm and 705mm.
5) Personally, I think the sink is too close to the corner
Cost wise, well the Silestone seems about right, but the unit prices seems a little high. Are the end panels veneered? Why have they put recessed downlights into solid doored cabinets? There are more cost affective ways of doing it.
Hope that helps? Feel free to drop me a PM if you want clarification on anything. Oh and do you have a plan with sizes on that I could look at? Makes my life a lot easier...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands
