Hi,
I received a parking ticket and the car registration on the ticket is not mine. i.e one digit is wrong. Does this render the ticket invalid and do i have to pay it or can i just ignore it, surely the council wont be able to chase payment without the correct registration number?
i hope so

They will either:
a) send the NTO to the owner of that reg. no
b) realise their mistake and bin the ticket, since they cannot re-issue a corrected ticket for the same contravention0 -
That's great, thanks I wasn't sure. And was wondering whether I was required to send them a letter saying I was going to appeal on the basis of the details did not match my car and then leaving my email as a way of contact as opposed to my address. You have saved me the trouble. Out of interest is this backed up by any parking regulations?0

This has just happened to me - should I write them a letter to tell them their mistake, as it would be unfair for the person with the incorrect reg to be chased?Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0

Don't contact them at all!
Keep the PCN safe though...just in caseAlways try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -
Dont be surprised though if the councils realise their mistake and try to issue new pcn's when they look at the photos....it has been known.
However they are not allowed to reissue the ticket so would be an easy win if it ever got as far as appeal. You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -
I have also just recieved a parking ticket and am in need of some advice.
The bay I parked in is a 'one hour stay' type and after being parked there for more than the permitted time, I got a ticket.
However the ticket has the wrong information. The make of the car, registration, date and street is all correct but the ticket says the driver was present, which I wasn't.
The warden has simply written "To the driver" on the top and ticked that I was present. They've also filled underlined "the car you were driving/using/in which you were a passenger". A section called "HORT/1 Driver present only" is filled in.
Does this make my ticket invalid and can it be argued against?0 -

Second, is this really a council ticket?
Answer on the new post please.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -

'Warden'? 'Argued against'? But surely it's nor even a real PCN from a Council, is it?
You are accidentally just hijacking other people's threads they have started and you won't get any more answers right here. You WILL get help if you start a new thread and tell us who issued that ticket?
To start a new thread you click the blue button top left, on the main parking board view:

HTH.
EDIT I see you have now started your own thread so we'll leave this one to miss.sj's case.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
