Hiya everyone,
just a quick question, what do you do with your LO's drawings?
dd is 6 - ds almost 3, and i have boxes full of them, stuff they have brought home from school / nursery, i feel kind of guilty at the thought of throwing them away. The same with cards they make, i do love them and think it is nice to keep them and show them when they are older (especially one in particular Mothers Day card that DH helped them make and spelt it ''Happy Moters Day'' lol)
do you keep all of them or just a few, if you do keep them what do you do with them?

Can you see the mountains through the fog?

I have string all round the top of the dining room walls with their pictures hung on it with little frog pegs.
I don't keep them all. I keep the ones they or we like best and the rest go in the recycling after a few weeks. We also have pics done by friends' children on the fidge door and hanging with our children's pics.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
I've got large A2 folders (well 2 peices of card stapled together) and the good stuff goes in there. They're in my wardrobe - so out of the way.
My tip - make sure that you name and date everything on the back- as you'll forget years down the line."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
There's also the option of taking photos of them, although its not really the same as actually having themProud to be a moneysaver! :cool:0

Seriously, throw them away and just keep your favourite few - the kids won't care! I think my mum is mad for keeping mine, they are crap and have never done anyone any good, I helped her have a clear out a while back and I had to persuade her to chuck them all out!
It's like keeping birthday cards, it's just clutter!
Or you could always scan them then chuck the originals.
xThs signature is out of date because I'm too lazy to update it...0 -

What if something happens to you and you're not around in the next few years? She'll be upset that she chucked them.
Some things are worth keeping - letters from loved ones and stuff from your children fall under that category."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."

Mine go in the recycling:o, I keep cards but thats it I am definately not a hoarder;)0

Oh no I definately just kept a few. They went on the fridge and then as we updated them with that week's pictures they went in the bin.
I've kept all her old school reports and used to keep her school books until she changed bedrooms and asked why on earth I had her nursery books. So we binned them too.
Doesn't make me a bad mother, I keep loads of important things, just these are mre important to some than to me.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
The good ones get put up on the kitchen cupboards for a week or so then get put in a large decorative storage box I have on top of my wardrobe (special cards and awards from school go in there too)...the scribbly ones go into a pile on top of the craft drawers then discretely get recycled every now and then lol
I hate any kind of clutter so have to file things I want to keep or I go mad every now and then and just get rid of everything.....**"Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin."**0 -
I was inspired by a folder I saw on the Great Little Trading Company website
https://www.gltc.co.uk/fcp/product/-/getting%20organised/Keep-and-View-Art-Portfolio/10000001221 Hope that link works:)
However I thought £14.50 was a bit stripey so bought two display books from WHSmith (one A4 size and one A3) for about £12 for both. I spent an hour on Friday going through DS's paintings, picking out the best ones and inserting them, in date order, in the A3 folder. I managed to fit all the paintings in up until now (he is 5) although he is not a prolific painter - he never had anything for me when he came out of pre-school - his friends had armfuls:D
I am using the A4 folder for stuff like school photos, paper clippings, school awards, swimming certificates etc. I will do the same for DD.
I have very little from my childhood, only a few school books, and I think it will be nice to look at the folders when they are older.0 -
I have a box for each of my children. I keep some (about one or two a month) plus nice cards they do etc. The rest go to recycling.
I do find it sad however that we see some Mums putting their childrens pictures in the creche bin before they even leave the building!0
