Warm Sure Heating Grant HELP please

Hi
I applied for a grant and was awarded a central heating system with rads and condensor boiler in March last year. The boiler is ISAR28 by ideal.
Since having the boiler installed it has made horrendous noises like a motor bike back firing, they said this was the pilot trying to reignite, the noise can be heard from the 3rd floor of my house! It has cracked and bowed the wall it is hanging on it bangs so severely.
On top of this the water gets just warm enough to bathe in, this I was told is standard for combi/condensor boilers, I never have to add cold to it to bathe.
I am on to my third call out in three weeks for water leaking out the boiler. My partner has spoken to a few plumbers regarding this who have all said this boiler isnt adequate at upto 80000btu's for a house the size of mine and shouldnt of been installed. It is three floors 4 bedroomed house, large victorian property.
I have spoken to Warm Front who said unless warm sure recommend I have a new one there is nothing that can be done, and warm sure said unless warm front do there is nothing they can do!
My feelings on this are that the company they awarded the grant to to do the work have installed an inadequate boiler at a lower cost and kept the difference.
It is looking like at the end of my two years warranty I am going to have to pay for a new boiler which totally defeats the o0bject.
Can anyone offer any advice on who I can complain to as I am getting passed from pillar to post.
Thanks

Water from the taps will come out quite slowly, long time to fill a bath. Is the house warm enough? If so, boiler big enough. Perhaps a call to your local council, building control department? Contact CORGI? - or tell your installer you will.

Radiators are warm but not hot, I know water will come out slowly but water isnt hot when coming out.
I have spoken to a few proffesionals who have said this boiler IS NOT adequate for a house of this size.

Another c***up by Warmfront cowboys......I would have thought the CAB for advice, also trading standards or www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/
I would also agree that the boiler is undersized,
hope you get it sorted and report back if you get a result

by the way are you sure its a 28 as Ideal isar seem to only come in 24, 30 and 35. AFAIK

My mistake in my raging typing! It is an Isar 24 sorry. Im going to try trading standards this week.
I feel like they will think im being ungrateful which Im not, I didnt get a full grant I did have to pay a good few hundred towards the sytem so I expect it to be done properly. The pipes rattle all night it back fires etc, im sick to death of it.
Before that I had a boiler in for 15 years and never had to call an engineeer out to it once! I just hated having to heat water up constantly

Without seeing the size and type of property, it does seem like they have fitted an undersized system.....to support your case, you would be in a better position if you can get an independent report carried out by a reputable Gasafe registered company.

I appreciate that, it is a large victorian semi with 4 rooms on ground floor, 4 bedrooms and bathroom on first floor and 1 bedroom and bathroom on second floor. The bedrooms and main living areas are all a good size, it used to be two flats.
I think I will get an independant review done it cant do any harm can it

Mmmmmm, a combi should really only be used on small flats or 1 or 2 bed houses, they are not good for large houses at all.
good luck with it, keep us posted.

    I will and thanks again.x
  • What boiler came out of the property? Warmfront used to say that they would on replace like for like boiler power wise. If a 24kw was installed then they would put a 24 kw back in.
I would get an report done by another gas installation company done and try and get them to install another boiler, Also the ideal boilers are utter crap and they push these boilers due to being part of the ideal group. I would ask for a valliant as its on there order list of boilers that they can supply. They should also of checked the incooming water pressure and flow of the cold water mains, If its low or your on a shared mains then a combi boiler should never have been fitted.
They try and push combi installs as they push the grant to the max and if they fit a standard system with cylinder the job often goes to excess.
