i have a Sky Digital box, and was wondering if i could just buy a Sky+ box and just swap them over? does anything need to be done to the dish?

You need an Quad LMB & a second cable to enable you to watch one channel & record another. (or record 2 channels)
You also need Sky to activate the recording facility if the existing box is'nt connected to the phone line.
