Contract Start date

Does anyone know when a mobile phone contract starts, the date you sign the contract or when the phones connected.
I've contacted Vodaphone and they say it when the phones connected, but does anyone known where I can get this confirmed. eg goverment/ Citizens advice etc.

Heres why, I signed up for a contract with phones4u, but they sold me a 18 month contract not 12 month as I asked, I didn't notice (shiny phone distracted me + I did state several times I wanted a 12 mth contract, I wasn't told it was an 18 mth contract, but then again I wasn't told it was a 12 mth contract either).

I've gone over the 14 day cooling off period, if the contract starts on the day you sign, but due to mistake by the sales staff I'm still not connected 26 days later, so if the contract starts when I'm connected it won't have started yet.

I know this is a little of the usual topics, but this forums been so usefull for me in the pass I hope someone can help!

What Vodafone have told you is correct. The contract will start from the day of connection.

Given that P4U roped you into an 18 month contract and then failed to connect you, I would use the opportunity to take your business elsewhere.
