Ideas to make additional £350 / month?

Hi,

I currently pay all I can to my debt to try to erradicate it as fast as I can. I've already managed to shave quite some years off it - as my signature shows. Plus I have almost reduced my debt by half - which is a fantastic milestone... and it is so close!

The down side to all this though is that I want to be debt free as soon as I can be!! I have calculated that an additional £350/month will mean that I become debt free in May 2007 - shaving a further 6 months off.

Paying the additional £350 to just shave 6 months may seem bizarre - but I REALLY want to be debt free as soon as I can be.

I'm unable to get a job outside the home - I tried it earlier this year and it really didn't work. I managed it for 3 months. I loved the additional funds - and the fact that I could throw so much money at the debt - and yet still give the family a weekly treat (max spend £20) to compensate for me not being there. However it really upset the children & I had to give it up.

What can I do - from home - that will bring in money like this ? Anything or nothing? What I am looking for are suggestions for ways to make money, with minimal outlay - I want to be debt free! I've thought about ebay - but other suggestions very gratefully received.

Thanks
FF

when you say it upset the children how exactly did that work? did they just moan at being left with a childminder???

lots of kids grow up with working parents and become well rounded individuals. my mum was a single parent who put herself through university and worked part time to help us and both my sister and i were never upset by it, and we never suffered through any lack of attention.

how old are your kids? what about starting part time to get them used to not having you around?

    Hi,

We adopted our two children 3 years ago. They were quite young - however had had numerous homes (we were their 7th placement) and should have been adopted by another couple - who changed their mind after the children moved in (not helpful!). I thought 3 years on they would be okay about me working - I always took them to school and Dad would collect them 3 nights a week - the other 2 nights they went to an afterschool club for an hour and a half.

However, they got very emotional, started wetting the beds again, ripped up pictures of us as a family - thinking we had had enough of them....

All very distressing for us all. When I said I wasn't going back to work our eldest sobbed for 2 hours and said thank you.

Don't think I could go back to work for a while yet!

Have you done the old selling everything you can on ebay?

    And signed up to Quidco?

Have you look into matched betting? It totally confuses me but some of the regulars have made a decent whack doing it!

Could you become a childminder or would that upset the children too much. I pay £420 per month for 3 days childcare in NW Kent/ SE London.

I've done some selling - we haven't much left to sell!

    Just signed up to Quidco

Not sure about the matched betting - not a very Quaker thing to do!!

    Selling cards through Phoenix cards?

Childminder - could look into it - however we seem to be a 'big' area for childminders - lots of them are advertising spaces at the moment.... might keep an eye on the adverts to see what happens come September

How about seeing if a magazine will pay to take up your story? I know that a lot of Local Authoritys are desperate for more people like you who can over sucha secure loving home to adoptees, so you may be helping inspire other people as well. Obviously you may not feel this is right for you but may make a quick one off payment?
