You'll scrimp to spend only £45 a month on food, but are happy to fork out £3000 for one day?

Black Saturn is the queen of meal planning across on the Old Style Board!

She really does spend £45 every 5 weeks! makes almost all her meals from scratch and she has a thread on there with her meal planners and recipes!:T

We don't know Black-Saturn's circumstances so I don't think we can judge on that one.

I don't believe she's scrimping on £45 for food - have you seen her recipes? They are just fab, I appauld her for being so money-savvy and I'm sure she'll do the same come the wedding :D

    Debt-free and Proud!
Hi Black-saturn,good luck with the wedding and savings, just wanted to add my 2 penneth worth.
I found your comment on getting rid of the car a bit hurtful and un-necessary,you said most people on here wouldn't get rid of their cars to get out of debt, well most CANNOT get rid of their cars, they HAVE to have them for work purposes, and let's face it we have to work to pay for our debts!
Regarding saving money for the big day, does your OH live with you? if not would it not be cheaper for him to move in then you could save more as you would only have one lot of household expenses.

No my OH doesnt live with me. He lives in London and his daughter is studying there until 2008 which is why we can't get married until then.

Have you also looked on the marriage/relationship board for ideas for free days out to reduce your costs? Mobile phone can anything be shaved off this -used for emergency only calls? Correspondance course is it only for so long you pay fees so you could start to save this money.

With my mobile I sent about 2 or 3 texts per day and have only ever used it twice for calls.

I've still got over a year left to pay for my course as yet

I wasn't judging, just saying I thought it odd. A weekend away to say thanks sounds lovely, and i apologise for any offence.

i too cook from scratch (my son's 12 and i'm proud to say has never had a ready meal!), but spend more than that to feed us. I'ts down to personal choice, and agin i apologise. i have seen the recipe threads.
