So DS1 has been home for just over a week now
The noise level in the house has gone up somewhat!!
- but it's so lovely to have them all home - we've had some fab chats after dinner all together - it's been lovely
Xmas is nearly sorted - should hopefully get the last few bits (foody related gifts) from the farmers market on Saturday. I haven't written the cards for posting yet, but there is still time - and my Xmas stamps haven't arrived in the post yetI need to deliver my sister and nephew's presents but all other external ones have been delivered/ posted (exc my mum - but she will visit here on Xmas morning for a couple of hours)
On the subject of Xmas, best friend and her husband are the other house in our bubble - but are only now spending Xmas Eve evening with us - which is quite nice, tbh. I suspect they may pop in again on the last allowable day for a post-Xmas chat and cuppa. We've bought them a present which they can't get the benefit of until 2022!!- it's tickets to a comedy gig

Good end to the week - youngest 2 have broken up from school for a fortnight. Ds3 has a handful of pieces of homework to do, DS2 none (his school never set homework for hols, but they do work everyone really hard in term time - they are the top performing school in the county (quite often out performing the fee paying schools, of which Glos has quite a few) and usually the SW and often rather high in national rankings, too. They both have an inset 4th Jan - DS2's was already planned, DS3 's has just been added due to school having to sort the logistics of a staggered return and the testing
(On the subject of testing it's my understanding its the lateral flow tests they'll use, like they did for the students - that's spitting into a small tube as opposed to a nasal/ throat swab. DS3 's school have some parent volunteers already to help administer it (don't need DBS, as will be supervised by an appropriate person) DS2'S school will no doubt have many, including trained people - so many parents are consultants, lawyers, business CEOs etc - it's *that* sort of school and the car park for parents at events shows it... my 11 yo Golf looks out of place! 😂
On to the older 2 - DS1 has an interview to study Grad Medicine at Swansea next year 👏👏 He has a written test mid Jan and an iview early March. Both on Teams.. And DD has a job offer from her interview last week 🙌🙌 Working in the town centre in the main council offices as Police staff (but civilian) She was 2nd choice so didn't get the permanent position, but this is a fixed term contract for 18 months - which is fab. She was dithering about whether to accept, as she got the offer the same day she had an interview for another job, which she'd probably prefer. I told her to accept and if she got the other offer to then think about it again - if she goes back to this job and declines after accepting that's ok - no contract yet and they probably expect people (esp if they don't already have a job) to be looking at other roles elsewhere, too. So from her technical end date of finishing being a student it has taken just a month to get an offer- which is amazing in the current climate. She had a really good hit rate of applications/ interviews, too.i think there were only 3 jobs she didn't get to the next stage and she was massively under qualified for 2 of those, so they were a bit of a punt. And she applied for less than 10 overall, I think (she was still at the stage of going for jobs that appealed, as opposed to anything will do for some experience) I may have to start thinking of her as an actual adult at some point! 😂
This did mean a trip to N*xt and Sainz yesterday for suitable clothes. Lots of items purchased in Sainz saleHopefully she's tried some on and likes some..... And a huge order to Debnums in their sale. 🤞 that materialises.....
Off to farmers market shortly to purchase some cheese 🧀 Weekend plans are then getting the house totally Xmas ready and bringing presents 🎁 downstairs for under the trees 🎄. Also need to ensure areas are clean and clear for 2 new radiators that are being fitted on Monday morning- one is not working at all ❄(appears an internal valve is stuck and banging with a hammer 🔨 does not work!) And the other is minging and drips 💧💧 occasionally .
Hope everyone has a lovely weekendx

Well done to DD! That's really, really impressive, as you say especially in today's climate. And even on people who eventually get jobs, they've had to start as interns - so to go straight to a paying job is brill.2023: the year I get to buy a car8

Wow! well done DD, what an excellent pre- Xmas present. Such good parenting shows greent. We try really hard not to put things under the tree until Xmas Eve, as we were burgled one year less than a week before Xmas. They must have been the most confused burglars ever, it was all cat treats, waxed cheeses for a friend who was due to visit, and the most enormous huge wrought iron candle chandelier.
Serves them right, crime does not pay.

Thank you, both - she is super pleased:)
How awful being burgled then, f0xh0les. At least they didn't get the kids stuff. There is nothing too exciting is under the tree so far, - some sci fi books, some history books, a few cheap selection boxes and some HP bath bombs. Oh, and a bargain leg0 set @ £7. More exciting things are still in my bedroom. Oh - forgot some things for my nephew - a box of poster paints and a home made red velvet cloak and crowni think they would be unimpressed with any haul!! : D
The fridge is groaning with cheeses from the market, most of which will be consumed with glee by DS1. Anything left when he returns to uni will go with him
Am still loving ❤ my robovac - although the amount he gets from the carpets everyday is, frankly, alarming! 😱
On the subject of housework, I shall now go and iron all the clean laundry to some catch up tvI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £207 -
Thankfully it was before children, greent, but you can feel dh's anxiety levels rising every time another present goes under the tree. Love the idea of a velvet cloak and crown. So glad it is going well with ...erm Robbie? or was it Vacent?4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Robbie is correct
He is my new favourite male!
Plans here today are some zumba to yootoob (crazy ro go to gum but need to move my butt before the excess eating causes it to re-spread), a well needed shower, followed by a trip to Sainz to return a couple of things that DD bought. Also need to go to local farm after lunch to collect Xmas gelato order 😋🍦 - thankfully only 4 tubs this year, as I don't have any space (think last year was 10 or 11....) and sort DS3's room ready for radiator man. Oh - and remake out bed - currently stripped and the preferred set of bedding is in the wm as I type.
Its just started raining - I also had plans to walk and feed the swans and moorhen along the canal - will see if it improves later.
On that note, I also need to make rolls and a loaf - and I'll steal a few of the swan - intended stale slices to make bread sauce and freeze it for Friday
Hmmm - all that and the usual cooking/ ironing/ other housework means my Sunday isn't that restful.... hmmm...

Not restful at all
I'd call that really busy
Hope you enjoy as much as you can of it!
