Are you intending selling the other 14 bags? I need to get in and do a second sort of my wardrobe - still far too much stuff, especially bags, shoes and unopened tights and knee-highs.

It turns out the blown fuse may have been the dishwasher heating element as that has gone wrong, and we have no heating from the central heating. Man one getting back to me today, man 2 coming with the part he thinks it is on Saturday morning.

I briefly checked online and confirmed it is heating related but I can't work out if the element comes as a complete assembly or separately for our model, and when I watched a u-tub video it was too many bits being unscrewed on an American example and I am not confident enough to risk it (that said, our Vacuum Cleaner in Germany did work successfully for years with 2 screws left over after one of my repairs...). Especially as I run it overnight to pay night rate electricity

Oh no, S l I'll send any unwanted bags straight back :)

I've just had a read on your diary of your dw/ ch woes - fingers crossed it gets sorted soon - s'bit chilly not to have CH (although I think you have an electric aga/ similar from memory which can supply some heating? Or I may be confused...!) And your tale above about your vacuum has reminded me that we have 3 screws in a pot on our windowsill leftover from when we last had our DW repaired..... hmmm..

Another teeny sale today. And some lower value items listed on fb00k and flebay. Will see if they go.... Also added more items to the latest CS box - keen to keep up the 'let it go' mentality. And have registered to volunteer at our local CS - I chatted to them about it at the end of last year, but never got further than looking it up online. DS2 needs to do some volunteering for his DoE and his first 2 choices aren't practical for us as a family, but a Sat morning stint at the CS would work for him - and they do a short-term role with DoE (and similar) participants in mind - fantastic!

Did a slow-ish 40 min session on the cross-trainer today. Chose to do longer and slower session as a- I haven't been on there in aaaaages and b - I was watching catch up tv at the same time. Still managed to feel it in legs and bum later though! Shall aim to do the same tomorrow :) I would go on the treadmill, but that involves moving a chest of drawers and a toybox, so the c-t is easier (and less out-of-breath-y!!)

Got my payslip for new job - taxed at emergency rate... although I'd rather overpay than underpay, tbh. I tend to have a tax bill thanks to the BTL and also dividends from OH's old co ( the latter will no longer be an issue after this tax year!) anyway. It'll all come out in the wash, I guess! :)

You are right about the electric aga but it does not heat any radiators, just relies on the doors being open upstairs. The sitting room is really the one that suffers but we have a convector heater in there to take the chill off - plus a log-burning stove for cold evenings (although this needs DH to chop more logs for the weekend). I also have a small oil-filled radiator in the bathroom and under my desk, so we are not suffering, just paying for lots of electricity. The part for the DW is just over £90 plus fitting  - it is new enough to repair rather than replace.

You are good, using the cross-trainer. I have become very slack and lax about fitness and core strength. I am going to look at this properly with DH as we are both far too sedentary at the moment. Relying mostly on our walking with other people's dogs for exercise. Having developed a dreadful cold in the last 24 hours this discussion might have to wait a day of two. I am just streaming and wheezing this morning.

Have a good weekend (I might go back to bed shortly)

So another wee flebay sale today - and a fbook sale agreed, with collection Sun or Mon - all good :T And payday is a week today (for OH - the main source of money! :D) so I can then do some spreadsheet twiddling :T I upped the OP to the BTL today, too (we round up the DDR payment (made from the BTL c/ac) from our c/ac - just a small figure, but it makes a difference over the term :) And did an updated rough budget - as in I listed all regular payments and added them up and then added on amounts for food and clothes and diesel - all quite healthy, thankfully. Also, Feb is one of the council-tax-free months, too - so I shall transfer that to the holiday fund instead :) I really need to get on with booking the last few things so I know just how much we need - I keep thinking that we must be getting close..... Flebay sales transferred there this week, along with a small payout from tcb :) (and money from new job)

Oooh = and my phone finally got sorted today - after 2 more phonecalls to 0h2..... still, it's sone now - now just need to sort OH and DD's...…

Another session done on x-trainer today - although I have to confess to it being a very lazy session, as the x-trainer clearly needs some WD4o or similar, as it's very creaky/ noisy - so going slower meant I could still listen to the programme that I was watching! :o:p I suppose it was marginally better than sitting on the sofa and watching it though!! :rotfl:

Eating up things has gone well this month - I know the students took a load of food back with them, but even after that we've done well - I've had some random things for lunches at times but I think I can empty/ clean the garage freezer next week and transfer the remaining small amount of items in there to the kitchen - every little helps on the electric bill, after all!:)

Sounds good greent, glad you’re so on top of things.

We also have a rodent problem. Hazard of keeping chickens and also having a cat flap. Might try the detractors and see if that works, thanks for tip SG

Almost at OH's payday - and I can't wait!!! (I've had my 3 different pays - 2 have gone straight into hol fund (2 x schools pay) and my last one from OH's old co has been used for usual day-to-day stuff and trombone lessons, last DoE payment and final payment for DS3's Y6 residential trip in June! January has seemed a loooong month! :D

So my Nan died yesterday... she had a fall at the care home on Sunday and broke her hip - was operated on Monday morning but by Mon night they said that was it - she went peacefully yesterday afternoon. Today has therefore been spent on admin.... sadly the house sale has not exchanged yet so that is currently on hold....

OH is away tonight on a jolly was an old friend at a music gig :) He also has a quick trip to the US coming up with work.... currently scheduled for when we were hoping to have the funeral.... ho hum.....
