Echo what others have said re the wider family. Tough times but pleased about the care award. As it should be.
Best shake a feather and change some beds and put a load on. Hope your WM starts to behave itself too

What a lovely weekend! OK - we've ended up with a car bill for next week (OH's window mechanism has broken and won't go up or down - friend got it back up by removing inside of car door but it's not really secure at the mo...) but the rest so far has been good. Yesterday DS3 spent the day at a friend's and DS1 at his gf's. OH and I went to the shops and bumped into family from about 20 miles away so had a catch up ahead of a family wedding next month and I did a (little) but of gardening and then OH, myself and DS2 watched Dr Strange last night
Today I painted another 4 panels of fence and touched up some other areas (used a whole pot of fence paint) and OH and the boys mowed, strimmed, dug up weeds, trimmed hedges, dug up old woody (and basically dead) plants and I potted up some bedding plants which have now grown enough and also been out uncovered day and night for a couple of weeks, so hopefully hardy enough. I got rid of a couple of good sized items on fb00k for free, sold some of DS3's outgrown clothes (funds to hol fund) and have advertised a large item from garage on fb00k and have loads of interest :T I also turned a pair of DS2's torn trousers into shorts - which he loves :T
Tomorrow we plan a BBQ in the forest with friends - we had planned a roast leg of lamb full-on Easter dinner - but it's waaaay too hot for that! The lamb will keep for several more days - or can be frozen, after all.
DD and DS1 are both out with school friends tonight (different groups - and in 2 different Weathersp00n pubs in town) - which is lovely
All of DD's VIth form school crowd have made it out today - unusually
Feeling pretty good right now
Hope everyone is having a lovely BH weekendxx

Good news for your nan
Ugh communal kitchens at uni were horrible. I was so glad to be out and with my own kitchen.
Us clean students do a few clear ups at first and then just give up. I just ate noodles and sandwiches and returned to own room to eat. It was impossible to cook without having to spend ages cleaning up after everyone.
And then if any of you tried to get together to discuss it and cleaning up after one selves, the dirty people would just say you're being awkward. Ughhh. I wasn't even that tidy myself back then but I believe in wiping sides and washing up. Ugh I always wonder how those people live now.
So relieved for communal living to be over.0 -
That sounds a wonderful few days, greent, everybody doing good things separately and together. And we're only halfway through the BH! Long may it continue2023: the year I get to buy a car0

It was (still is!) a lovely BHol weekend
Yesterday we went to the forest for a BBQ with friends (OH and DS2 went shooting first thing) , as planned - nice relaxing few hours in dappled sunshine, next to a babbling shallow brook
Smaller ones were in and out of brook and we had a sort-of game of rounders, played a bit of frisbee and a couple of people tried one of the rope swings
Very pleasant time and all meats were already in fridge/ freezer. Cooked the remaining (defrosted but still very chilled) 2 burgers and 4 chicken breasts when we got back - turned burgers into mini meatballs with addition of lots of garlic (very yummy and moreish) and cooked the chicken with peri-peri - some was eaten by students last night, a bit more at lunchtime and there's approx 1 portion left in the fridge
Only food waste yesterday was about a tablespoon or so of coleslaw, which had gone weird in the heat. Just a few bits (bbq tools and camping crockery) left to put away in the garage later and that's it
Evening was finished by watching Line of Duty
Today has been lazier - I returned some things to A5da and Tesc0 (wrong sizes) and bought a couple of different things instead (growing children....) and yet more milk, f&v and juice.... OH, DS1 and DS2 are now at the cinema (with Easter choc :EasterBun:easter_ba) and DD, myself and DS3 have played some games and are off out shortly to a local farm for their yummy gelato ) Bags are packed for back-to-school tomorrow, tooAnd someone is coming later to collect a large item advertised on fb00k :T :T
A rather lovely Easter break :j:j And the garden is looking soooo much better! :T
Communal student kitchens are often indeed mankyThere were only 4 of us and all girls, so it wasn't too bad. DD tried with hers, but she really did live with some horrid and very messy people. DS1 is happy to live in the mess (he's not the tidiest/ cleanest at the best of times!
) No idea what his house will be like next year - from memory, I think there are 8 of them) DD shared only with boyfriend in y2 and this year (and again for her Masters next year)

ooh, is dd's masters confirmed?NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

She has the scholarship funding (3k towards tuition fees) confirmed and an offer of a place with a 2:1 - even if she got thirds in her 2 essays still to hand in her average is currently less than a point off a 1st - so there is no way she should fall below a 2:1 - so we're taking it as confirmed.....I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200
