I wish I'd had those mini Sunday dinners when I was in uni! Your NYE sounds lovely. DH took our children to a party at a friends. They did party games every half an hour and saw the new year in at 10pm. I think next NYE for us will be buffet, party games and board games and making memories with the children.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0

Happy New Year to you and your family. Hope the sore throat has gone.
6 trees - lovely. I think I'd like a tree in our garden to hang lights on. If you can have 6, I'm sure I could persuade Mr T to let me have 2.
Our DD is going back on the 4th, DS on the 3rd, I'm taking mum home today (with us since 30th). I may need to borrow some children
Best wishes

Phew! Last week went in a whirl! I was one-on-one invigilating/ scribing for a Y12 in their mock maths and science exams but managed to at least double my set hours every day - good for the wallet come payday though!!
DD was back to uni on the Mon - filled her freezer drawer and half of the one above it! - but not all her flatmates were back until this week. Her bf is useless in the kitchen (doesn't have a saucepan and hasn't even made toast!!) and so they've been spending more than she would like eating out (doh!) so am hoping she cooks for him a bit more going forward
DS1 was back at school on Tues - straight into his Y12 exams - and then DS2 and DS3 were back on the Weds (DS2 to a trip to the zoo and DS3 to a non-uniform day doing stuff outside) Was DS2's 11th birthday on Fri and he said that he loved his presents and had a good day - yeay!
We have paid for our sofas this month (well, the rest - had to pay some last month before they'd deliver) - bought them from N*xt opening a N*xt account to get free delivery and better cashback. Got just under £90 tcb (confirmed, not yet payable) and then paid for most of the cost using discounted vouchers bought from zeek - saving a further £140+ :T:money: (I love my sofas - they finally 'complete' the living room - about 2.5years after we redecorated and changed the colour scheme!)
Washing machine is on the blink again :mad: - 4th engineer visit booked for it since Oct. Bought from JLewis for £978 less than 2 years ago - seriously considering contacting JLewis as we've also had other engineer visits before (think the first one was when it was around 6 months old) Engineer can't come out until Sat - argh! Good job I hadn't got around to stripping the 2 beds yesterday which I'd planned to!:D
Sold 2 items on fleabay today - and both buyers paid within 10 minutes. That means I have nothing in my pending fleabay bag - nothing is listed/ nothing to list! :j:j:j I'm aware of one thing which I'll list on there later in the year (not accessible in garage atm as it is behind all the camping gear) and I'm sure other stuff will emerge as I go through the house again but - for the first time in goodness knows how long - I don't have a pending fleabay pile! :j:j I do have some boxes of items priced up for the next NNS (25th Feb) so still have pending items for sale but am still chuffed
Other than that, what other news have I got.... am trying to get an electrician to issue a safety cert for the BTL - first 2 didn't do them and am waiting for a call back from 3rd (grrr!) - will phone them again tomorrow as they are local, a decent sized co and say on their website they do safety certs and I am sure I have used them before for the BTL years ago. There's also an issue with 2 or 3 sockets at the property so they can do the remedial work on those before issuing the cert. That should - fingers crossed - be the only remaining costs (exc mtge interest) this tax year, leaving me a buffer and giving me £1500 to start off this year's OPsI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -
Congratulation on working the sofa payment! Hope its nice and comfy? But awful about JL and the washing machine. You're juggling a lot going forward, I love it.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Sofas are lovely and comfy, thanks - and purple
Forgot to say - have resigned from the festival committee - yeay! Also have stopped SW - was doing rubbish at it and paying £4.95/ week. I just don't follow the plan at all! I liked helping out and weighing people and having a good chat with everyone but I also ended up being late to Zumba as a result - which I enjoy more. All part of simplifying my life

Purple is my favourite colour
Well done on the reduced price on them.
I often try simplifying my life but then end up filling the time with other things, I think I'm a lost cause!0 -

Good for you. £4.95 for what you get is too much. There is definitely a market for a reasonably priced slimming club.Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0
