I haven't made them in a while but always chill them for ages - they still tend to break when I flip them though! I smother mine in either chopped fresh tomatoes or tomato chutney/ relish if we've got a jar hanging around :) They need something to 'lift' them imo - ketchup clearly does the trick for your DH! :D

Didn't make Jack's burgers - made a spinach/ chickpea/ mushroom curry from bits hanging around in the fridge (sorry mushrooms and peppers - and 1/3 jar of spicey mango chutney which no-one really liked) and storecupboard stuff (spices, onions, chickpeas, frozen spinach) As well as using up the mango chutney (always good to get rid of unwanted jars! :D) I used a sachet of salsa from a (YS to a bargain 50p) nachos kit - the nachos had been used a long time ago (I would never buy a kit unless cheaper to do so than plain nachos) but I don't use the salsa. Meant that the curry now has kidney beans in and a slight chilli flavour, but it was very nice when I tasted it. Re-named it cur-illi :D

Used up the last of the HG pears and some of my mum's bramleys in a crumble for dessert - yum. Discovered when I went to make crumble topping that my food processor was not in cupboard - we think we got rid of it when the bowl broke and sourcing a replacement was found to be more expensive than getting a whole new fp. However, I didn't remove the blender attachment nor all of the 'special' blades and other accessories from the cupboard - these have now been added to my 'to fleabay' pile :D Made the crumble topping using the whisk attachment in the K-Aid instead :D - anything to avoid rubbing by hand!!! :rotfl:

OH has been sorting the office - yet again - some decent progress can be seen :) I seemed to spend my day baking (bread, rolls), cooking (crumble, steak pie, pizza, cur-illi) and cleaning. The house is looking better than a week ago, though :T

I need to be doing that, for twigs and branches, and for the shredding from next month. Can't quite hack doing it till I'm more up to date, the garden's very overgrown after not being touched for 3 weeks - I just caught 3 brambles that were putting down roots
I'm fatal with choc - they never survive!
That's me too - I don't have them in the house. Ate loads at my mum's :o

    Whoops - didn't realise I'd not been here for 2 weeks! :o

Have been tidying garden - patios both swept, lawns mowed, pots cleaned and planted up with Winter bedding, some bushes cut back, one of the tables sanded down and re-oiled, weeds treated and burned, compost moved... Looks better out there. Still have another table and 10 chairs to sand and oil - and some fencing to paint though!!!:eek:

OH has done some little jobs in the house and I think its looking better inside as well :) And the garage has had a bit of a sort out. Have fleabayed quite a bit in the last fortnight, dropped off boxes of stuff to the CS and our rubbish bin and recycling bins have been full to the top. Also have a load of stuff going to the NNS for selling next week - am hoping that very little of it comes home!! :p

Feeling ok about life at the mo. Need to sort money things next.

Oooh - great news from DS2 too - after great exam results from DD and DS1 DS2 has now passed the grammar school entrance test. Around 2500 children took the test in the county and it would appear that DS2 not only passed, but was in the top 150 - clever little chap! (I know not everyone is a fan of selective education but we have 7 grammars here in Gloucester and both myself and OH (and our mothers) went to grammars and we both rate the system. Eldest 2 also attend(ed) grammars)

Still no contract for OH - hence why little jobs around the house are being done :D

Tenants have been in BTL almost a month now - next rent payment is due next week :)

All in all, a good week here. Next week OH is redoing DD's bathroom ceiling - it had some flaking paint when we moved here and the problem seems to come back every so often, so he's going to strip it back, treat it and repaint. I am going to give her bathroom a really good clean after he is done (lots of dust!!) and also wax her bedroom door - for some unknown reason when I waxed the woodwork here her door wasn't done. We also have 2 secondary school visits to do, OH has a Governors meeting, it's his bday, I have voluntary stuff to do and some gardening bits.

Talking of DD, she has been suffering with freshers flu this week and has been sleeping lots. She's coming home next weekend for OH's bday :) I am looking forward to it!!! :):)

Wow! Such a long time since I posted in here!

Ummm..... what has happened..... not a lot, I guess! I have fleabayed a lot and sold a heap of items at NNS, so money has come in and items have left (money paid to OH's 0% CC which still has small balance of holiday on - have pledged to clear this by end of year.....) Also dropped several boxes of unwanted items to CS. Parts of the house are feeling/ looking better but still more to do. Finally managed to get Co Accts and our personal tax returns done. Large Corp Tax bill paid today :( but accountant says we should both be due a small personal tax refund - yeay!!

DD came back for the weekend last weekend - was lovely to see her! SHe is having a blast at uni and took a stash of food back with her when she left, including HM bread, HM cakes and a stash of roast potatoes for the freezer!! :D:D

Washing machine was out of action for a week! - fixed today. My mum did some of our washing but I still had a backlog - have done 4 loads today and will have another 2 tomorrow, I think!

Currently watching SU2C - some bits are so, so sad :( On a personal note, last week we found out that OH's aunt has cancer and yesterday she moved to a hospice :( And the family feud from my uncle's death back in the summer still rumbles on and has got really bad :(

On a better note, tenants seem to be happy in the rental. There appears to be an issue with 2 sockets so I need to get a spark out and will also get them to do the electrical inspection (It's due at the beginning of next year anyway and Id rather it all be checked out now) Was talking to accountant and she recommends paying some of the mortgage off earlier than I planned. As it's been empty for a year and we also did a lot of work on it prior to this we will make a loss on it last year and this one too. There's no way I can match Watty's aim of Easter 2017, but I'd like the majority of it cleared by end of 2020 I think - haven't done any figure work on it yet though! :) All depends on how much we end up helping DD and DS1 out with uni costs over the next few years!

Back again in a couple of days or so when I can think of something else to write! :)

Watty isn't sure she can make her Easter Independence Day but she is going to go for it :) A steady 2020 sounds good :)
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!
