Mr GT doesn't think he'll get it - 'corporate fit' and all that - the main interviewer got up and left the room during the interview to go to the loo, so he doesn't think that he was impressing them!!

Nothing much happening here - some bits of Xmas shopping being done here and there, random food items trying to be consumed from stores (usually by me) to make sure there's room for Xmas stuff and to keep spends down this month for the NST challenge (banana, maple & raisin flapjack is very scrummy :D)

New sofas aren't arriving now until after Xmas :( - hey ho - we can survive (albeit uncomfortably!) I want some scatter cushions for them so have suggested to OH we go looking for them this week, buy one of each design we like, take them to the sofa shop and try them out against the sofa fabric - and then return them to the cushion shop and get my mum to get me the ones we like best for Xmas (she can also get discount in the shop where I think I'll end up getting them from) Not the most exciting Xmas present, perhaps - but one I want, I'll enjoy, will like, will use and will also need (being short of stature and also having a dodgy back I tend to need cushions behind me for support) :D

Update in leak repairs: Lounge wall now repaired and repainted - just some glossing on architrave to do to finish off. DS1's room has holes filled in - just need sanding off and painting. Landing wall repaired - just needs paint touching up - will also touch up paint elsewhere on landing and in hall at same time :) Ceilings in dining room, hall and lounge - still to be painted. Hopefully some of that will be achieved this week - along with some painting and re-sealing in DD's bathroom. I still need to wax DD's bedroom door and also (I think) DS1's bedroom door. Boys' bathroom door could do with a scrub down and therefore a re-wax too. That'll be the main bits I want to get done before Xmas :) Anything else will be a bonus :)

I suppose I should go and feed the tribe............. :D

Bit rude of main interviewer to go to loo during interview, regardless of whether he/she was impressed or not. It would have been courteous to go before or after..unless they had a bowel or bladder issue of course.
Well done with the repair and repaint.
Sorry sofa not coming until after Christmas now. :( Good idea getting the cushions and checking they're a match with new sofa.
Yes, I tend to be the one who eats up leftovers and stuff that's been languishing in cupboard for ages too!

In the interviewer's words they'd 'been drinking too much coffee' that morning!

Greent, does your OH want the job? I'm glad the interviewer semi-apologised, at least!

I think cushions are an entirely appropriate present :) some of the things I've asked for have been incredibly prosaic, but incredibly useful :)

I always think these job interviews are a two way street - the new employer also needs to impress the prospective employee!

Well - as he expected - he didn't get the job - the main interviewer (the coffee drinker :D) gave feedback on one point he made in the interview which he said she'd fixated on in the i'view and had got the wrong end of the stick. He didn't really want that job anyway - it was a fixed term contract for 6 months in the SE. He does want *A* job though - it is getting him down somewhat now :( He's put in another application for one today which is home based :)

Not much else is going on here - a bit of Xmas shopping here and there, a bit more decluttering and some diy and using up random food items :) A gentle pace of life here at the moment - which isn't bad :) A contract for OH in the NY would be good though :)

  • How frustrating! Although it doesn't sound like a great environment to work in - I think Mr GreenT has had a lucky escape there. The right thing will come along for him I'm sure. He has a great work ethic and his perseverance will pay off.

  • Sounds like a very lucky escape.

Hope something suitable turns up soon. I know it's frustrating.

Thats a shame for him - but it *does* sound like a lucky escape in some ways :o oh, and I've just seen Goldie's comment: the employer fails your OH's interview, you know!

And actually jobhunting is pretty much a full time occupation, plus all the faffing that gets put on the back burner can get done now ... gentle pace of life is nice too :) as you say.
