I was amazed at how much it (the saved interest) worked out to be! :)

GCSE season starts here tomorrow - although DS1 doesn't have his first until Tues pm. He has an easy first week - only 2 exams. DD also has a resit on Friday - Eng Lit AS - she got a B overall, but only a C on the exam last year, so has opted to resit it to try and pull it up, as it will form part of her ultimate A2 grade. I'm invigilating 8/10 exam sessions this week across 2 schools. We have a colour coded excel s/s on our fridge of where and when I'm invigilating and what exams the 2 teens have and when :D

In view of the invigilating & study leave of DS1 (DD starts after Fri) I have food shopped galore this weekend - fridge, freezer and shelves are groaning. We will need more milk (as usual) and OH's granola was oos (and he doesn't like other ones) so a mini trip can be made later on in the week. I have baked rolls, white bread and a seeded wholemeal loaf today. Dinner was a mish mash - original plans were peri peri chicken with salad and flatbreads (gorgeous sunny day) but OH changed his mind so I had l/o bbq pork warmed through (originally YS) in rolls with hm coleslaw, DS1 had YS pizza, DD a mini roast (chicken breast, roasties which had been l/o and frozen, as were the yorkies), OH hasn't eaten (was feeling unwell) and the smallest 2 had a party/ buffet style dinner of sausage rolls, cheese wraps, salad bits. Made for a bit of juggling to get it ready all at once, but meant bits n pieces were used up and peri peri will likely be tomorrow instead :)

Took smallest one to feed ducks/ swans/ gulls/ fish and then to playpark - lovely walk in the sunshine :) Dried 2 loads of washing on line and now have chiminea burning a load of old confidential paperwork and some of our cherry tree which was chopped down last year (the tree surgeons chopped it all into small pieces for us and it's been outside for a year - could probably do with more but it's burning well) Oh mowed & strimmed the lawns, so the gardens are looking better. I need to sweep the patio - will try and remember to do that tomorrow.

We have bought some pretty pink solar lights for a tree in the back garden and also have white ones out there. Looks cute with the solar jars on the table on the top patio. Not doing masses with the garden this year, just some pretty plants in pots - corner flower bed established last year is looking good this year. Not growing much, either - we have some potatoes (only because a few were left in last year and I had 2 very sprouty ones in my kitchen), salad leaves, chives, basil, rosemary and the ever present raspberries and strawberries and fruit trees - 2 pear, 1 eating apple, 1 Bramley, 2 plum and 1 cherry - should hopefully also yield lovely things later this year. Energies and funds being spent on renovating BTL (OH currently replastering kitchen ready to fit new one) and here (still aiming to have a new kitchen (of sorts) here) - and the Florida holiday :D

Life is feeling busy but generally good (am ignoring DS1's behaviour at times for that last point! :D) - but I do find that sunnier weather always makes me feel better! :)

Morning! For some reason I have been awake since before 6am!!! Gave in and got up about 6.20 - only because I thought it was an hour later, mind!!:rotfl::rotfl:

Was DS3's 7th birthday yesterday. He had mainly Lego for presents (bought on fab deals, natch) - OH said to him yesterday morning 'There appears to be a theme to your birthday...' (meaning Lego) and he replied 'Yes - happiness!' - which I thought was a brilliant response:D:D We went to the cinema with him and DS2 yesterday to see the Angry Birds Movie - I was impressed - it kept my attention for the full 90+ minutes. We had codes to use for all 4 of us which we bought over a year ago and cost us less than half the price of the tickets and took our own snacks and drinks in :money: which meant the only cost yesterday was the parking.

It's his 'party' today - we're going to Jumptastic - only 8 children in total. He is very excited about it, so that's good :)

Hope everyone who has exams going on in their house finds that they are going ok. DS1 has a harder week this week - 6 papers and mainly of his weaker subjects (last week was just Chem & Bio - EdExcel papers, though - not the much Tweeted about AQA drunk 15yo ones:) ) I'm invigilating am and pm sessions every day - which involves being in work for 8.20 and finishing anywhere between 3 & 4pm - not a hugely long day, I know - but means I have to be way more organised than normal! :D I'm just not used to this!!! :D:D Gap in between sessions ranges from 50 mins to 2 hours - will pop home in between and hopefully do things like put washing out/ get it in etc (and eat! :D) I will also have DD home all week, as she has now finished school (for ever!!!!) so she can also do mini tasks such as the washing/ empty dishwasher in between revision sessions :)

Looks like being a lovely day here for this morning (poss rain this afternoon) so will get some washing out asap - rained much of yesterday, so lots still to do.

Still no job offers to OH - although he did have a promising sounding interview on Friday for a job in Bristol, which would be nice (relatively local) - he should hear one way or another by Friday, I believe.

    Ooh - I can hear DS3 coming downstairs - time for a snuggle, I think! :)

  • Sounds like a busy week ahead. Beautiful comment from birthday boy :)

Dare I say I quite fancy seeing the Angry Birds movie but none of the other Tilly brigade does - may just have to borrow a child from someone :rotfl:

Hi  best of luck with job in Bristol - hope that works out.

DD1 sat the much tweeted about paper last week and said that wasn't the question at all.. She was rather surprised about the reaction. It was all about interpretating graph data on alcohol consumption and that the 'business studies ' question was actually on a v long (8 pt question?) on clinical trials which although she thought she didn't do well on, was on the syllabus...

Only glad we are through in about 4 weeks and then she can start her summer.

Agree re the small tasks inbetween...I have already booked her in for some bookkeeping and she will be babysitting for friends with school age kids....
