I think that's a really good birthday present . My mum likes buying 'things'  , as does DH (although DH also likes experiences - but things like a balloon flight, a helicopter ride etc)

Flagging today - didn't sleep too well and then DH's alarm went off at 6am - and he then stayed in bed until gone 7am.... grrrr!!! Washing should be dry (shall go and check in a mo) as it is lovely and sunny. All of yesterday's ironing has been done - not all of it has been put away yet, though...... DS1 has mowed the back lawn, so that's looking better. I've pulled up some dead / broken sunflowers - leaving large holes in the ground - good job I have a bag of soil to throw in them! I've also done the TEsc0 return, confirmed an appt for eyebrow wax and tint towards month end - and switched our energy supplier (hopefully gaining some cashback when it's finalised) Our energy usage has massively increased over the past 12 months - all those people being at home all the time with heating on more than normal and long showers etc. Ah well. DS2 and I have also done more in his room - should *hopefully* only be 1 more session in there and it will be finished! - whoop!!! I've also done some filing - and received a lovely letter from HMRC today - lovely in that it informs me that I no longer need to complete self assessment tax returns - yeay!!!!! (where's that jumping for joy emoji when you need it?!)

Brilliant that you don't have to file SA anymore, they are a bit of a pain especially with the new changes coming in.

New changes?????? Argh! I think DH may still need to do SA - well, I will need to do them for him if he needs one going forward - he has never completed one for himself! I've literally just submitted his 5minutes ago - I've been waiting for details of his Gift Aid sales for last tax year at the CS to come through as the last bit of info needed (he's HR tax payer) Still, that's another job ticked off - just need to pay his tax bill now (that can wait, though! )

What a great letter from HMRC!  Woo!  OTOH, more changes ... but actually, they change how they tax my French apartment every year, so I always need to approach it as if I've never done it before, though I always keep a pdf of the previous declaration, just in case.  

Hope you get a proper sleep tonight.

New IR35 rules have kicked in (21/22), SA MTD is also coming (I think 22/23). I don't think it should be horribly difficult though.

Thanks, kp - DH is now fully a  PAYE salaried employee so I no longer have to concern myself with IR35, like when he was a contractor (phew! - it was just raising its ugly head more when he got this job) x

Things achieved yesterday - afternoon tea (Xmas present with DH and 4 members of my extended family - lovely to see them and teh setting was lovely and service was amazing! - definitely going back there!!), took DS1 for his 2nd jab, got some admin filing done (and some old stuff shredded/ recycled) That was about it! (plus 2 loads of laundry all line dried, but no ironing and a top to bottom big clean of the downstairs loo after finding a huge silverfish in there - have some silverfish spray but need to use it last thing at night as it stinks - and obviously the downstairs loo is a very small room! - will try and remember to spray around edges tonight) I didn't do anything with DS2 in his room as he was asleep until midday after being up most of the night unwell (fine now)

Today is off to a slow start. I have a pile of uniform items from MnS for the youngest 2 to try on - then I can take some unwanted things with me into town this afternoon and return them - we have a school shoe shopping appt (joy of joys - am thankful I only have 2 to do this for nowadays - when it was 4 it was hellish - all 4 have fitting issues with their feet (eg: extra wide, extra narrow, narrow heels/ ankles, over pronation, long toes (an issue for DD when it comes to how low cut the shoes are in front!) and trying to get school shoes, school trainers/ daps (depending on age), home trainers, rugby/ football boots all sorted in one day was a nightmare - and very expensive!) - I also have an appt at a school uniform supplier (for logo-ed items) but that should be quick, as I just want some next size up items (several things still just about fit DS3, but may not by Xmas) As all 4 have gone to different secondary schools (the downside to living in an area with several grammar schools to choose from and letting each child choose their preferred school (after all, they are the ones going there, not me!)) there are no logo-ed items to pass down - plus the schools have all had significant uniform changes in the last 10 years or less, anyway. Thankfully DS3's school is very cheap for logo-ed items (unlike DS2's ) I'm not sure I shall get much else done today - although I have started off the morning by getting a bit more filing/ admin done  

And just so I've mentioned something about money in this post , I'm going to buy DH some more PBs - I normally wait until late in the month to buy any, but the amount I'm buying means I'm missing out on exactly 0p interest from the account funding them if I buy them now - so I may as well

Still nothing heard back from any podiatrists...... sigh.....

Thurs - school shoe shopping for DS2 and DS3 achieved - whoop! - DS2 is pleased that he now officially has the biggest feet in the house and DS3 is pleased that his feet are now the same size as DD's - although she's not impressed that next time he's measured she will no doubt have the smallest feet in the house!   Next size up PE shorts ordered for DS3 and the only other shopping done was new boxers for both boys. Perfect timing on the rain - started raining as we got to the car and was tipping it down heavily on the drive home - but whilst we were actually out and about shopping it was dry Sold an item of DS3's clothing via fb00k

Did some sorting/ tidying/ cleaning in DS3's room with him - and some items have left  

Fri - went to L1d1 and did a huge shop there (£85!) - and a small shop at Tesc0 on way back after. Then in the afternoon DS2 and I did a 3 hour shift in the CS - he enjoyed himself - was good to see We sorted/ priced/ put out stock for all that time - I thought he'd be a bit apprehensive about sorting through donations (he's a bit of a germo-phobe about some things) but was fine - although thought the donations of underwear were gross (they were new, but as they were out of their packs with no labels on they sadly go for ragging (which means they might end up in a 3rd world type country in reality - at least they're not wasted if that's the case) Anyway, we were both tired after that (finished at 5pm) and as no-one else had given any thought to dinner plans we had a takeaway. 

Yesterday I did some housework (about time!! ) , watched some Olympics, finished a good book (started on Thurs night) and then DH and I went to a country pub for dinner with besties (outside eating - so layered up!) - and then they came back to ours for cups of tea and chatting after - leaving just gone 11pm. 

Today should hopefully be quite chilled - I need to do some ironing and I have to go out (scattering my nan's ashes) and DH has to take DS3 to a friend's for his bday (present sorted - just need to wrap it) whilst I am out. I also need to do some more cleaning in the kitchen and ideally list some unwanted things on flebay and fb00k (listings fee offer on flebay). Hmmm... that's not quite as chilled as I'd like (I have another new-to-me book calling out to me!) so we shall see how much actually gets done......!
