Need to build a doggy bike trailer, need some advice

We have this

http://www.justdogkennels.co.uk/products/pennine-fabric-dog-carrier

which we use to travel in the car with him, he pokes his head out the top and i would like to make this

http://www.scot-petshop.com/shop/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=360

i have tried looking for wheels etc, but dont really know what to look for, what sort of base would we need and how to fix it all together., then the whole thing needs to be able to be connected to the back of our bikes

is it possible? the size of bike trailer we would need for the dog would cost us nearly 200 quid, plus we would have to fit it in the car with his other dog box anyway as he travels in the box, so i thought it was better to somehow fiddle with this box to make it do 2 jobs

simple enough job. get some pram wheels. the old silver cross type are the best type.

basic chassis can be almost anything, even a plywood one.
tow bar can be a length of angle iron.

not sure about the final bike fixing bracket? i need to think about that one.

If you look at all of those pictures tou'll see that they are using proper bike wheels with inflated tyres, not solid pram wheels. I certainly wouldn't recommend pram wheels on a bike trailer - your dog will probably get shaken half to death (especially if you are cycling fast) and it will make a hell of a racket. Not to mention when you have to bump up kerbs etc.

You should be able to pick up a proper bike trailer of they type you want (even one designed for kids would do I think) for £50 on ebay. A much better bet than trying to build one, I reckon.

our dog is a collie, so he needs the big sizes, they come in at 180 at least on ebay, they're not cheaper than buying from a shop or online

bike wheels/tyres have their advantages and some disadvantages.
punctures are a fact of life!
silver cross type wheels are a lot larger than pram buggy type wheels.

i love that one, in the blurb he said that he bought the fixings which fix it to the seat post from some place but its obviously american

he said that it holds up to 50lbs but i think that our dog weighs more than that, but i can see that it could be made stronger

just one method of fixing the towing hitch.
