I will try and help you unlike the first 2 unhelpful posters! Persistance is the key. Call again ask to speak to a manager, try and be nice first then go down the shouting route! Or failing that go into your local branch and ask to close your account. They will refund it. I have been charged before and always always get it refunded where its a genuine mistake for a small period of time. Its bang out of order what they have charged you and you should and will get the money back. Good luck.

how were we being unhelpful? the route of the problem is bad money management and experience dictates that if it isnt stopped then it will happen again

Barclays have charged me what i think is a ridiculous amount for being 1.90 over my reserve, which I didn't want set up. If this was not set up Id be charged £8, ive phoned them up, as its the first time ive ever been into the reserve and they told me tuff. Im furious is there anything I can do about this?

Stay within your limit you wont get charged. With internet banking you've no excuse.

    Hi

I was in a similar situation in that I went overdrawn by a minimal amount for one day. I went into the bank and spoke with the customer services desk. The lady here was rather rude and abrupt and was insistant that the charge would not be cancelled. After a few minutes of speaking with her, I insisted that she go and speak with the manager. The manager waived the charge and I got a refund : )

But to be honest why should wave a charge for your mistake.
