O2 contract about to end - don't know what to do now
Options
Hiya
I hope someone can help me out as I'm getting very confused with different tariffs and phones!
I've currently got a Nokia 6230i with O2 and pay £18.99 a month for 50 anytime xnet mins and 300 (I think!) texts but I only use about 100 texts and very few mins.
I went with the contract to get the phone and my initial plan was to switch to payg when the contract ran out. However, dh needs a new phone (he uses about the same texts and mins as me and is on payg at the moment). I could also use a flip phone as I carry mine in my pocket when at uni and I'm running the battery down by pressing the buttons and making the light come on!
If we are going to pay over £100 for a decent phone, we're wondering if it's better for me to stick with a contract and use the mobile instead of the landline for voice calls - well, up to the limit anyway, as for some reason we haven't been doing this so far and we could save some money there! He would have the phone I've got now and I'd get a new flip phone, but I use the camera a lot so would want one at least as good as the 6230i.
What I'm wondering is - are all contracts designed for heavier users than us? I don't want to get involved with cashbacks as I'm not disciplined enough, but would like a cheaper tariff. Around 25 mins and 150 texts would be enough, I think. I don't like the look of the O2 payg 300 texts a mth for £10, as I do make some calls and I like the security of knowing I've always got credit in an emergency.
Any ideas anyone?

If I helped or saved you money - Thank me
If I helped you spend some money - spank me
If I done both - :lipsrseal me:eek:0 -
the o2 deal for 300 texts depends on you topping up with a tenner each month. The texts are free and the £10 is used as call time. If you do not make many calls this looks ideal. As long as you are a wee bit in credit the free texts still apply up to the 300 limit and then they start being charged.
You can get a decent 2nd hand flip phone from ebay. Check this!
