It has been repeated to you often enough - if you still can't grasp it then you are unlikely to now.

Ha. Ok, then. I would say that you could ignore that last comment.

    Very childish.

"naah, if you don't know by now, then I'm not going to tell you."

Do your school know you're using their Internet connection to come to this site?

    No Tootsie, that won't do.

I made very specific points in that post, which you are claiming are incorrect. Please explain what I have got wrong and why.

Tim_L is asking about what was wrong in post #113.

Not asking for your Daily Mail blinkered opinion again.

To say, "I'm not telling you" speaks volumes.

No, Graham, you and Tootsie studiously ignore any substantive points and engage in rather silly generalisations and homilies.

What Tootsie said was that my post #113 was wrong, but it contained a fair amount of verifiable detail. If he disagrees with the conclusions then fine, but I think he should be pinned down as to what exactly it is he thinks I have wrong in the matters of fact.
  • Exactly - if they can't grasp it now after 7 pages then they're unlikely too with one more post.

Just not worth the effort, they are intent to have the last word and they can.

This thread really has degenerated into the schoolground.

For the last time, there will be no charges on current accounts - even the one bank that came out and said it has printed a retraction in view of the response from the other banks.

Couple that with the legalities of doing so (outlined in this thread for you), and there really is no hope of it happening short of a major change in the law, which won't happen overnight.

If you cannot engage in a discussion about it without stooping to a school playground type level, then I suggest you do as you keep saying you will and not read this thread any longer.

Why don't we start two new threads, one for argueing about bank charges (a subject that does not interest me because I do not pay them) and another for discussing the way things might change which would interest me because I need a bank account and could end up having to pay for it.
Now there are a few interesting points in this thread but wading through all the other messages is a turn off and I won't do it again.

You can't really have one discussion without the other, unfortunately, because the attempt to introduce bank charges is taking place under a smokescreen produced by those reclaiming charges.

I don't think it will happen, as I've said. There is still too much competitive pressure in the current account marketplace, and many smaller players building market share. What may happen (and what the A&L do for example) is charges could be made if you don't meet certain criteria in terms of the amount of cash being put into an account, or if you don't have an overdraft.
