Changing conventional boiler to new combi

Your boiler quote seems reasonably priced, as mine for an Ecotec 937 (next model up) is 2650 without radiators.
However, AceTime are hugely variable and whether you get good advice or service depends on the calibre of the individual operative they send to you.
They sent me an inarticulate idiot whose every remark was to raise another problem without proposing a solution.

I just don't understand why anyone would want a combi boiler when the standard type work well (and in my experience, better!) And you get an airing cupboard :j
Actually, many of us don't want or require airing cupboards, or at least not one that has most of it's space taken up by a big tank.
Personally, I would rather have a combi boiler than the 'conventional' sort any day. Endless hot water is the obvious advantage. If you've ever been in the shower or tried to run a bath and the water turns cold because someone has used all the hot water in the tank you'll understand what I mean. Plus you don't need cylinders, tanks etc.
If your bath isn't filling quick enough its very probably because you have the wrong boiler fitted for the water flow/pressure in your property. Obviously, as youre renting, you have no control over this.
Your reply to the OP is really no help as they were looking for advice about the price, not what sort of boiler you prefer.
Sorry, bit of a rant, but I found it a bit of a pointless post.0 -
I used them; and it was (is) a nightmare....
New Boiler was fitted on the 08Jan2011.
Stops working on 20Jan and won't stay on for more than a minute. We called Ace.
2 days later(22Jan), Ace Engineer says that air in the system was causing a valve to trip. He says that this is common with all new boilers. He bleeds the system; and says that this should not happen again for at least 1 year. Boiler is up.
Boiler stops working 4 days later (26Jan). Called Ace, **Also called British Gas for second opinion.
British Gas engineer said that the boiler was not fitted properly. Said "condenser not large" whih was
causing air to seep into the heating system, amongs other things. British Gas Engineer bleeds the sytem as well.
Emailed Ace with details from British Gas.
Boiler stops again (29Jan). Ace to send an engineer on Monday at 6pm, then on Thursday. No one shows up. Called to complain. Ace to send Engineer on Sat 02Feb at 9am
Sat 10:30. I chased up Ace, who give me the number for Engineer. Engineer says he was only advised of the job this morning; and due to other jobs, he can only come between 2pm and 5pm.
Very young engineer comes at 4:50pm, After being shown the note from British Gas, he bleeds the system and leaves, all within 15 mins.
Boiler stops *** 3 minutes later *** !!! Office closed till Monday.
I will call to make a complaint to Acetime Plumbers0 -
