I had a 2.2 SRI Vectra Auto Petrol as a hire car once.
Never in my life have driven a car which spent so much time at 5000rpm. The stinking thing simply wouldn't change gear! It was embarrassing driving it.
No doubt my Hire Car with less than 10k on the clock was defective but it turned me right off.
Having said that I have owned a Diesel 2.2 TiD Saab which has the same engine.
The engine was tractor like (not common rail) and not so good low down, slow speeds, but absolutely wonderful on motorways when most of my driving is done.
The REALLY don't like GM suspension, it creaks like my knees in the cold weather, sounds awful negotiating speed bumps.0 -
These engines need the cambelt and tensioners changed every 40k.The man without a signature.0

None of the private hire companies in this area will run Vectra's, too expensive and unreliable to keep on the road. Having said that, you get a lot for your money but I think I'd rather have a Mondeo.

2.2 petrol is a nice drive with Auto box.
Only buy a high spec trim level - leather, computer, Nav etc in my opinion.
The wife has a 2.2 SRi coffin carrier (estate!) and we've had no problems in 80,000 miles/3 years. Trim level isn't great on that one.
Bit thirsty though, if you're paying for your own juice.
Not sure if we'd buy one if it was our own money - our cars are both paid for and fuelled by our employers instead of company cars.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Believe fuel pumps can go on the 2.2.0

I don't understand how they can have the same engine?0 -

The 2.2 petrol has a chain not a belt.
There was an issue with blocked oil jets on the early ones which resulted in the chains slipping or breaking with predicable consequences but lots of people got free engines from vauxhall0 -
Ahh, I see, I read it wrong0
