Ordered a new 3 contract - nightmare!

I ordered one of these yesterday

Phone might not be up to much but the mins and texts is great for the price. 18 months at £15 pm.
However at the checkout I noticed a box to say "have you been referred by a friend?" and if so you will get £30 of downloads and he will get £30's worth too.
I put my mates number in and hit submit. Got a confirmation email and then straight after an 'order processed' email.
Then I noticed I had typed my mates number in wrong by mistake so called them to ask if I could change it.
They said no as it had already been processed so I asked if I cancelled and re-ordered would that be OK?
"Fine" said 'Dale' the kind Indian man, "That will be OK, I have cancelled it now - please re-order"
I re-ordered, making sure I typed in my mates number in correctly. Got the 1st email but not the processed one.
Called 3 up again today and 'Dale' answered again. I asked why I hadn't got a 2nd email for the 2nd order. He said it was because the credit agancy did 2 credit checks in quick succession and therefore I can only have the phone if I pay £150 which will refunded at the end of the contract. Forget that I told him and cancelled the 2nd order too.
Now these deals apparently expire as from today and also you get free Premiership goals this season if you order by the end of tonight.
I could re-order AGAIN but in the wifes name but do the credit agency go against you or your house? Don't want this affecting my score at all.
Or will the new month of August bring in even better offers? Dilema.
Any advice most welcome
