The blue, grey and black sets are all the same price. Disappointed they don't have red, that would have been lovely in my kitchen.

Its a shame to see the Denby name being used on cheap imported product. Do not expect this to be "real" Denby all it is cheap imported far east product no different to the other rubbish out there. It was never worth £49.99 so the fact it is half price means nothing. I was buying in similiar sets from the far east for less than £8 and I expect Argos are paying a lot less (I used to supply them so I should know)

Agreed - got a set the last time it was £25 in Argos. Cheap and nasty.

Warped, uneven plates and runs in the glaze.

I would rather save up that little bit longer and a bit more to get the proper denby because I have had mine for years, sure expensive to begin with but worth every penny in the long run, love it:D

Asda do any 3 sets of 4 of their porcelain - dinner plates, bowls or side dishes for £10 but I think this may be in store only.

I have to say that I am very impressed with the quality if you just want cheap, plain and simple crockery and don't worry if it is going to break by getting dropped.

They do them in plain white or cream. Dishwasher and microwave safe.

Ideal for rentals, students or if like us, you just like simple and practical and unfussy stuff without worrying too much if you drop something!

They have this online which is from the same range - just goes to show that some things are a lot more expensive online!! It is the DAKAR range. £2.75 per dinner plate online or 84p each in store!!

Sorry, but I agree - this is not 'proper' Denby, it's a economy version and not in the same league as the quality stuff. Try Debenhams sale - they have a few bits reduced at the moment -or Denby outlets or even Amazon sometimes have reduced Denby sets.

It's Argos though, so at least you can take it back if you are disappointed.
  • If you're in the Denby area (near Derby) you can visit the factory shop and buy seconds. All my Denby ware comes from there, it's much cheaper and looks as good as the regular stuff. The flaws are barely noticeable, often just a tiny spot of the coloured glaze on the white. Just check that the plates sit flat.

Tesco recently had a good offer on 'real' Denby for anybody that wants the genuine thing. HTH
