That's just for the first 12 months guarantee though right?

Nup ,for as long as you can reasonably expect a product to last ,your 1 yr guarantee etc does not affect your statutory rights .
Check out the consumer direct website :)

Typical! Bought one from Argos last Wednesday for £134. Questions to experienced users: Can it do things like frozen onion rings and sausages? And if you are say cooking chicken, can you bung in chips at the same time? Does it effect outcome/cooking time?

Take it back and buy it again at the cheaper price and get your voucher ,Argos are used to peeps doing it all the time :)

If they are so tempremental is it worth taking the £26.99 Argos insurance for 3 years?
I don't normally opt for these but if it's a £175 device thats prone to breakages I would be tempted.

If you have the option, buy from Costco, my first lasted more than 2 years then blew up filling the room with smoke, took it back and they were happy to exchange for a new one even though it was well out of warranty !

Me and my sister both bought these about 2 years ago. The lid housing stopped locking on mine after 14 months. (A new lid wouldn't have solved the problem, as it was the bit attached to the lid and unit) The motor went on my sister's shortly after. We both thought they were great, but we haven't replaced them, as they're so expensive. Tefal didn't want to know, as they were out of warranty.
Shame we didn't go to Costco

Yes you do have to pay but only have to run a business for the trade membership, not the individual, you just have to work as one of their listed trades.

My paddle broke yesterday - one of the clips broke. Bought a new one at CostCo, £117.99. Much better construction, the paddle comes off through a locking/unlocking mechanism, pan looks better, different filter, etc. And a vastly different cookbook with loads of recipes for chicken, beef, pork, rice, seafood, etc.
To the person who asked about CostCo, I'd say it's definitely worth the membership fee.
