All-in-one Printer using continuous ink?

Hi - we're currently using an old Epsom inkjet/deskjet (?) printer with a continuous ink system. However, it's on its way out and I'm thinking of buying an all-in-one to save space and get rid of the even older scanner
Do you know of any good ones out there that either can use continuous ink, or have cheap compatible cartridges?
Thanks for your help

Do you really need colour ??
Buy a mid priced B/W laser printer. Will last years before a toner refill is required and print runs are measured in thousands. Best print quality too.
Colour printers and cheap inks - No won't happen.0 -
i used one of the continuous systems on my Epson R300
TBH i never had good prinitng results
after a few months it decided to leak from the canisters and the print heads
so luckily i have wood floors and cleaned
the printer however has ink all over the insides making 'clean' prinitng impossible
so in short i wouldnt use it again0 -

Hi - thanks for the tip but a colour printer helps with the kids schoolwork etc. so I'm going to stick to colour at the moment.
I realise the print quality isn't professional but it's been good enough for our purposes so far.

Oh that is such a pain! However, we've always had Epsom printers and they've lasted for years. Also, we've always used compatible ink cartridges and more recently the continuous ink system without any problems whatsoever - maybe we've just been lucky. My dh has also manipulated the software in our current printer and set up some Heath Robinson contraption with a bottle and a tube (don't ask me anymore) so it doesn't think it's reached the end of its life and therefore keeps on printing.
It's just got a bit temperamental now and I have to do more head cleaning than I did before which, of course, uses up a lot of ink
so I thought it might be nice to have a change. I would love to be lazy but can't find the time:exclamati0 -
Canon Pixma MP640 is a good value one. Probably find it for £100 if you look hard enough0

so i wouldnt be paying £100 for one0 -
If you are going through a lot of ink, something like a printer ink club may help. You pay a monthly fee (mine is £5.99) and (subject to the good old fair usage policy), you send your empty cartridges to them when they run out and they return full ones to you. Saves a ton of cash if you use a lot of inkThere are 10 kinds of people that understand binary

That's a very good idea and would have been ideal when I was homeschooling my kids - however I really don't use that much ink now so even £5.99 a month is a lot more than I'm paying now.
I just didn't want to buy a new printer, then find it costs a fortune for ink.
I've just checked out the Epsom all-in-ones and Tesco are doing the SX115 for sub £40 - the compatible inks are really cheap as well. I'm just deciding now whether to splash out a bit more for some bells and whistles - I don't currently have them but they look like good fun

When did you last print a colour document for your own use ??
Do your kids school demand colour output ?? Then let the school print them out with my tax monies. Re school the children to print B/W or colour them in by hand.
Save your money, keep it in your pocket. Photos printed when you go shopping.

You've gone all numerically dyslexic on us, custardy! m5rcc was suggesting an MP640, not a 460. I must say that the print and scan quality on the Canon MP6xx series is top notch, and the CD print option is handy too. Original Canon ink carts are ridiculously expensive, but compatibles can be had for around £2 each.
OP: whatever you decide on, it would be worth checking before buying whether the ink cartridges are "chipped" and, if so, whether you can get "chipped" compatibles, as it can sometimes take a while after a new type of cart is introduced before fully compatible copies become available (which is why the printer makers are forever changing them, of course...).0
