Hi all,
Would really appreciate some help on whether my parents are eligible for pension credits.
Some background info.
Fathers age - 63 years old
Mother age - 60 years old
Savings less than £10,000
Both claiming disability allowance. Combined weekly allowance is I think (£91x2) £180
Mothers got no pension.
Father got a company pension, he did not contribute to, only company contributed.
Also many years back he was missold pension, i.e advised to opt out from state pension and contribute using his national issurance into a private pension.
Later, was given compensation in the form of a pension pot.
Anyway, he is not claiming pension yet.
In the pension credit form, he states they have contributed to a pension, they havent except in the form of national issurance.
My concern is that if they apply for pension credit and they are declined it will affect they current disability allowance benefits.
Lastly, they have worked and paid tax all they lives in the UK.
Any advise would be appreciated.
Thanks

pension credits are a bit of minefield for me,
i can tell you though, they dont affect Disability Living Allowance (DLA) at all though, DLA is based on circumstances, not income, so itll stay in pay as long as the powers that be deem they need them !
as for the pension credits, if noone else can help, id suggest having a look at direct.gov.uk / money tax & benefits & the calculator there, should also be a link to pension credits tel no's, in my experience theyre one of the still helpful people to call & there should be a freephone number too.
if there isnt, ive got a number at work.... but not with my at the moment when i really should be in bed
