Problems uninstalling AVG ......

right the reason you get this error on the boot up page is because either system.ini or your registry files are still looking for the program (im having the same problem with norton antivirus) I havent sorted out the problem yet as it mens going through and deleting registry files (which im not gonna risk) instead im going to look for a registry cleaner that removes bad links etc which should fix the problem.Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0

Let me know how you get on please.
Thanks.

Anything relating to AVG/Grisoft is already blocked within Spybot, so presumably I've done this somewhere along the way by some other method.
These are the messages I'm getting when re-booting :-
First page :
If you have deleted this file on purpose, try uninstalling the associated applications using its uninstall or other set up programs.
c:progra~1\grisoft\avg6\avgcore.vxd
Second page :
Cannot find a device file that may be needed to run Windows or a Windows application.
The Windows registry or system.ini files refer to this device file, but it no longer exists.
c:progra~1\grisoft\avg6\avgfsh.vxd
Any further ideas??
Blocked by SpyBot? Do you mean that the ticks have been removed from within the 'System StartUp' in SpyBot 'Tools'?
If so and the problem persists, download and run the Uninstaller program that I suggested earlier and uninstall using the program, not the AVG uninstall function. You will probably have to 'reboot' at some point in order to complete the Uninstall as some files may be in use whil you are trying to delete them.

Yes, the ticks are removed from Spybot.
I really wouldn't have a clue how to uninstall AVG as it's "disappeared" from the program box and also from "programs" under "start", so how could I uninstall something that doesn't appear to be there (unless of course, the uninstall program would detect components?).
Oh dear, I am in a mess ... I'm also frightened of deleting something vital. I really do feel like giving up and getting someone in who knows what they're doing.

Just download and run the AVG Removal tool:
Google it..
Apologies if you've already tried or been posted...only had a quick flick through the posts....0 -
Use the AVG removal tool from here:-

I assume you'll need the first one (32-bit version). It will remove any hangover bits that didn't uninstall first time......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
