Not too worried about the £500 credit, in spite of being a good MSER.

We were in Florida for five weeks over the worse of the weather. We are getting a refund of £149. As for the rest, instant access accounts pay so little interest, we're happy to spend the difference between the the old d/d and the new.

BTW, the gas usage was way underestimated, anyway.

I always check stuff like insurance quotes, so there is little scope for any savings in our budget.

Been on fixed price electricity for several years now, that ends this month, so that will be another increase.

But as it's a lower % than your pension's increased by, you're still ahead!

But do you check what you are insuring for and quiz them as to what will reduce your premium.
    Limited mileage
Other insurances with the same company
    Investments with the same company
Clear out the garage and put the car in it or at least park on your drive overnight.
    Increase the excesses
Drive carefully and don't get your photo taken
Have a bog-standard bottom of the range car (it's only to get you from A to B).
Always get your qoutes on 0800 numbers.

    You've changed your tune.

Don't forget cider isn't going up, and there isn't any phone bill surcharge to pay for broadband, at least not yet.

Other insurances with the same company ....only if cheaper
Investments with the same company.....no investments
Clear out the garage and put the car in it or at least park on your drive overnight..............yes
    Increase the excesses.........already high enough

We only fall down on one of your points, as we need a car that can safely tow our caravan.

Not when you count in ALL the increases!
