too many people fail to read there terms when they take out credit agreements!

I mean please get a life mate no one sits and reads through that thing seriously i bet its like 1 in 1000 people who read it

you dont read em you have no leg to stand on! its us that have a life that DO read them! take some responsibility!
    SOUL619
you owe them of course they can take it then sensible thing would have been to tell them in advance there more helpful that way
YES that would have been the sensible thing to do but guess what i didnt do it so that makes me a very bad man tut tut did i even ask what the sensible thing to do was if everyone did the sensible thing no one would need to post any thing on here

if you dont take responsibility for your actions what the hell do you expect? a pat on the back an a chocky biscuit?
INFACT soul619 i bet your on this forum because you have a shed load of debts right ! i myself have only 2 debts £700 and £500 and nothing else anyware so why not take your own advice

no i dont have debts actually apart from car finance, i look after my money and that of others!

i also read my terms and conditions for things when asked to do so and why? so that i dont get caught myself into stupid predicaments through being irresponsible! ok its not your fault you lost your job but had you have taken 10 minutes to do the responsible thing you would have know that your money would have been safer elsewhere and your family would have a bit more food!

More i read on this forum the more i feel it needs moderating better. Someone comes on with not much debt who has worked and lost his job and has a family to feed on benefits. Sure the guy has made mistakes yet people on here cant wait to shout its your own fault and make nasty comments. On a proper moderated forum these people would be banned. After all mse is a business too and most lose advertising revenue from people who walk from the forum after this sort of nonsense.

Seems to me that when comments get out of hand people end up chipping in with the "other side".

I've walked away from threads because of "nonsense", but I've walked away from whole forums because of over-moderation.

No real problems with the way it is - though perhaps more sub-forums would be handy. People too often ask the same/similar questions because searching is difficult and relevant threads quickly "go off the bottom" and are not visible with endless scrolling.

Pls be nice to all MoneySavers There's no such thing as a stupid question, and even if you disagree courtesy helps.

The etiquette box says it all really. I'd agree that there are a few regulars who can be borderline abusive, but normally it's in response to people asking about loopholes to waive responsibility for their over-spending. The credit card forum is definitely more hostile than other boards on the site - probably because a few OP's set the tone with their "outrage at company X" posts which we've read many times before.

The repetition in questions does get frustrating, but not a lot you can do to prevent that - if people at least googled their question before posting, odds are they'd find it's been asked and answered a few times - so yeah, a more prominent search option within the forums would definitely be a step in the right direction.

Right now the holier than thou, you must run your finances like a robot or be flogged, punished and made to spend eternal damnation in the fires of hell brigade have had their say, time for a helpful and useful post.

Regrettably they can do this, its in the terms you agreed to. Post #3 is probably the most useful so far in this thread and advised the OP to open an account elsewhere. This is imperative otherwise barclays will just keep helping themselves to the money whenever your benefit is paid. If you can't open a proper account elsewhere go for a basic one (natwest, rbs, lloyds TSB, Co-op and Yorkshire Bank all offer as near to full facilities as you can get on their basic accounts). If for whatever reason you can't get a basic one (unlikely) go to the job centre, explain the situation and they will refer you for a post office card account which will allow you to receive and draw on your benefit at a post office. They should also be able to switch your payments over to giro on a temporary basis until you have the new account set up.

If barclays helping themselves to the money is causing you genuine financial hardship to the point where you can't feed yourself or your family or have no money for utility bill top ups (if on a prepay meter) you may be able to get a crisis loan. Your jobcentre will be able to give you the number you need to apply for the loan. You will need to explain what the crisis is, how it causes you hardship and what effect it would have on the health and well being of your family and how much you need. A decision will be made by what appears to be a random number generator and if successful you will need to collect a giro from the jobcentre (queuing with obvious druggies abusing the system so they can get another hit but thats another issue) and repayments will be taken from your JSA at an affordable rate.

Finally, obviously you will need to sort barclays and your other debts if any. It could be worth checking if you have payment protection insurance on the card though chances are you have invalidated this cover by getting into arrears even if you do have it. Contrary to what some people will say, the credit card is not a priority debt. There are templates in the debt sections of these forums that will help you calculate your income and expenditure. If after calculating these they indicate you only have £1 a month to pay to creditors then that is all you can pay. When dealing with barclays and other creditors do so only in writing and don't let them bully you into agreeing a payment you can't afford over the phone. If you need help with negotiating with your creditors the debt section of this board will be infinitely more useful than this section or as one or two others have already suggested your local CAB should be able to help

    Hope this helps

This forum is not moderated (see notice at top of page).
There is no advertising revenue to lose as the site is free from advertising.

Of course you would already know this if you had bothered to read the site rules.;)
