Sky, O2 or Orange

Hi

I'm looking to change my broadband from Sky as I've noticed that we can get the same from Orange or O2 cheaper.

I was just wondering if anyone recommends either of the companies or thinks staying with sky is for the best?

Thanks.

Which Sky package do you currently have?

Also - do you have a mobile phone (pay monthly or payg) with either Orange or O2 ?

We're on the £15 package with sky and have both a orange and o2 mobile contract. I was considering either the o2 or orange according to the tests, my line only supports up to 8megs anyways (even though when sky did the test a couple of years back it was alot higher).

Well I'd avoid Orange to start with.

Second, if you're on Sky Unlimited (which I'm guessing from the price you are) you'll probably want O2 Premium - which is £10/mth with an O2 mobile discount.

You can get Sky Unlimited for £10/mth though - you just need to get the free Sky Talk freetime call plan - you can leave your line rental with BT. Is there a reason why you don't have this ?

Yeah I was just on the phone to sky but would rather keep my calls with bt, then we know what bills are coming from where if you know what i mean. Might have to look into the O2 Premium then.

If your line really only manages 8Mbps you may as well save a few quid (£7.50 after discount) and take O2 Standard (the 8Mbps LLU product) but always check what cashback offers there are (Quidco or TopCashBack) and O2 offers as well because occasionally Standard is excluded making Premium cheaper.

Also though - if you go with O2 Premium and then find you're not getting higher than 8Mbps speeds, O2 will let you move down to the Standard package without any charge. So at least if you go Premium first then you'll know.

By the looks of it then 02 is the way forward :)

So long as you can get the LLU product then there is no competition. Sky LLU is generally well regarded so quitting Sky for Orange would be a retrograde step.

I use to be a B.T. customer but I'm really impressed with SKYTALK Unlimited. So glad I made the switch because I'm definitely saving money by moving. I've just decided to ditch AOL & my B.T. line rental and move to SKY Unlimited broadband and that's also cheaper than AOL & hopefully it'll be a lot faster and more reliable.

If it was me I'd definitely choose O2 over Orange - Orange's reputation is appalling - but, just to say, Sky's line rental is cheaper than BT's so you would save a bit of cash that was as well...

    BT line rental = £12.54 (£150.48 a year)
    Sky line rental = £11 (£132)
