I will not respond to someone who is obviously not out to help, but to make someone who is already upset, feel small.
I'm glad you're so perfect. Really, I am.0 -
Been there, done that (lost my 0% deal) (actually done that twice (both with MBNA), but let's not go there)...
Anyway, been there and done that with Virgin. Write them a nice letter asking them to reinstate your 0% from now. Suffer the previous interest charges and hopefully they might put you 0% back on your account. This will be much cheaper than a loan. Sometimes it is better to do things in writing when it is a big ask.
Good Luck.
Did I get my 0% back? Yes, on both occaisions..... there is hope.I want to be credit card and loan free by Christmas 20100 -
I was fortunate enough to spot the £59.00 interest charge and £12.00 late payment the first month it happened. I say 'lucky' because unlike when Virgin are promoting or trying to sell you something, they do not inform you or email you to let you know the changes they have made. This is underhand.
Most people lead a busy life, occasionally people take their eye off the ball, 'an oversight' as the banks phrase it when they make mistakes. It is a fact the poorest people get penalised the harshest but nobody should feel 'stupid' or guilty about this. This does not equate to 'poor financial management'. Incidentally my payment was 1 day late, I have already given myself detention for this misdemeanor, so no lectures from the righteous please!
I have now taken out a loan, ostensibly more expensive but I am not going to risk the penalties imposed by underhand credit card companies, in this case Virgin. I have too many plates to juggle, obviously some of the saintly users on this site have far too much time on their hands.0 -
PS Ellie bobs - take no notice of the critiscism, you're worth much more to society as a pleasant human being.:)0

The biggest mistake was not checking the statements, and that is what has cost £300, not the going £1.60 overlimit.
In nearly all cases, MBNA will reinstate the facility for a mistake. However after several months, I can understand why they said no.
Without people messing up, these 0% deals wouldn't exist.0 -

I'm sure these charges are on the statement. Not sure how that can be underhand.0 -
Er, you were being harsh and it doesn't help, do you not think I feel stupid enough??
Don't you just love it when people say, I don't want to be harsh or with the greatest of respect then go on to be harsh and disrespectful
Search for/read a book called 'Drop the pink elephant'. Explains all about this!!Any opinions are my own and are offered as advice only and not fact.0 -

Setting up a DD over the phone takes 5 minutes which is a lot less time than the OP has spent complaining here about charges that they failed to notice for 6 months."A nation of plenty so concerned with gain" - Isley Brothers - Harvest for the World0 -

Why are you taking this all so personally ?
I've read the posts in this thread and no one has been harsh with you, but you don't seem that keen on hearing the truth do you ?
You messed up because you didn't read your statements properly at the time and now you're paying the price for that. Get over it ! Be a bit more carefull next time !
I don't understand why people come on here expecting huge hugs and sympathy after the evil banks have removed their 0% when they were the ones that made the mistake in the first place.
If you still feel justified in asking for the 0% to be reinstated then write a formal letter to their customer relations manager and see what happens.
Other than that, move on !0 -
Sorry to hear
