Some friends of ours went to Malta and told us to give it a go and we did. It was different and not many beaches but where you are staying at the Dolmen resort they actually have their own manmade beach which is a plus.jeffgeorge wrote: »Hi all,
I have just booked a holiday to Malta April 27th this year.
Staying in Dolmen resort in St Pauls bay.
Anyone been to Malta? Is it large, difficult to get about ect?
Any advice. I have read online but sometimes its nice to hear experiences from people.
Thanks and good day vibes

We stayed in Qawra which was quiet to say the least. The weather made up for it though as it was very HOT (July) and sweat was dripping by 8 in the morning:D. Not much to do but Bugibba square is worth a visit and is buzzing in the evening.
I would say its definately worth a visit.
The Airport is great and very small so quickly through passport controls and very friendly.
You get used to hearing the cars screeching on the roads cause they do drive rather eratically and sometimes you are expecting to hear a crash but they are used to it. We did book to go to the blue lagoon but the sea was too choppy to go which was sad. They also have pop eye village which we did not go to but some people we know did and they enjoyed it. The horse and carriage rides are good and they give you a complete run down of the history of the country.
I have actually got free flights with Malta Airways indefinately so may go over just for a cheapie later in the year.
Hope you like it.0 -
How did you get that?marshallka wrote: »I have actually got free flights with Malta Airways indefinately so may go over just for a cheapie later in the year.0 -
Been 8 times (have family there), not been for 5-6 years used to love the crazy buses and bus drivers as a kid but been told all the old buses have all been replaced now
Wouldn't mind going back this year or next mind. :T Debt Free 06/05/2010 :T0 -
Not yet, but by the end of the year they'll be gone, sadly.YorkshireBorn wrote: »used to love the crazy buses and bus drivers as a kid but been told all the old buses have all been replaced now
The bus drivers are to be paid €100,000 for each bus though.0 -
We had delays (which I complained about but is actually a regular occurence with Malta/manchester flights) and although we had all that we should have had provided I carried the complaint on and they gave us 3 free flights which had to be used within a specified time. I complained that I did not want to go to Malta again within that time and they gave us them indefinately. I actually emailed them in December last year to check they were still OK and they are. We can use them anytime and they are return so I may just book a quickie cheapie hol for later on in the October half term. Going on Tesco vouchers hopefully during big school holidays to Spain I think. How did you get that?0 -
Ah, I see. I thought you meant that you have unlimited free flights at first.marshallka wrote: »I complained that I did not want to go to Malta again within that time and they gave us them indefinately0 -
My friends went a couple of years ago and they are still there so far as they told us.YorkshireBorn wrote: »Been 8 times (have family there), not been for 5-6 years used to love the crazy buses and bus drivers as a kid but been told all the old buses have all been replaced now
