moving virgin broadband

morning everyone
in the next month or so im moving to a new flat, im with virgin broadband over a BT phone line. i will need to get a new BT number, i had a look on the virgin.net help site a few weeks ago and it said that BT would not allow them to move broadband from one number to another, recently virgin updated thier site and it seems to say that you can move to a differant number, although its very unclear as to weather this is for phone lines or cable.
i want to stay with virgin, ive been with them for about 15 years and ive had great service, also all our email addys are really good (no random numbers in the middle)
my ex mother-in-law moved hers recently but that was from an 01803 prefix to a 01626 prefix. i will be staying within the 01626 area.
anyone got any ideas what is possible, i know i could ring them but i thought a bit of investigation on my part would be good befor i spent 25p a min calling them.

right, sorry i thought you were a virgin phone customer. would it be better to go with virgin for phone? just a thought, i am really pleased with the phone costs.dont like bt anyway0

VM cable broadband does'nt go over the phone,it's run on the TV side so the point about moving the number on a cable service is mute.0

If you move to new premises then any ADSL is a new provision because your line has to be connected up in the exchange to the ASDSL kit.
You may well be able to arrange with the ISP that you are moving and to sort it all out for you but there will probably be some down time.0 -

i dont want virgin phone at £11 per month, because of the low user tarrif on BT i only pay about £10 a quater in total.
also i cant have cable where im going to so BT with a new number is the only answer.WWSD(what would Scooby Doo)0
