This is just getting worse, I have received another e-mail:
You don’t need to refund by PayPal – you just need to pay me.
If you’ve got a bank account go see the bank and ask them how to do it – they can give you a cheque or a money order or whatever?
If not, go to the post office and ask them how to do it with a postal order?
(!!!! - I just been to the post office specially to post it right back to you)
I can’t wait 9 days and anyway I don’t really want it in my PayPal account because it means I have to pay them a fee to get the money out.
Let me know what you are going to do or I will have to issue a claim formally
I have replied with:
I will & need to refund by Paypal as that is how the original payment was made.
Please feel free to start a claim, it is probably better that it goes through the proper channels.

Your buyer is a bully:mad: I would send them a message saying you are happy for them to proceed with the dispute, and will process the refund on receipt of the goods as per ebay/paypal rules, when they dispute paypal may mark the funds anyway which will put your account in negative balance but your funds transfer from your bank will cover this anyway saving you the hassle of the buyer hassling you until you can action the refund yourself. I think what I am suggesting is correct as I'm sure paypal mark the funds regardless of if you have a balance in your paypal account, someone else may be able to confirm this.0 -
Someone is at it! If he makes a claim through paypal (which I hope he does, others may have different views) he will have to provide proof of postage (or delivery?), I have made a few claims and have returned things recorded delivery and paypal has asked for the tracking number and then refunded when the tracking number says it has been delivered.
If it was me, I would tell him to open a paypal dispute and be done with it.0 -
Who is this buyer so we can all avoid him too?0

Ive bitten the bullet & phoned him (which is a miracle for me as I am really bad at talking to people in stressful situations, I fall over my words & get quite flustered!)
I have explained exactly how it is with Paypal & that hopefully (although I cant be sure) Paypal will refund him straight away & it will all be sorted. I explained that I was warning him of the worst case senario before & I also apologised.
He seemed OK & (not surprisingly I suppose) said he was wary as it seemed like I didnt want to refund. I think this is a case of crossed wires so hopefully it will all work out OK.
I contacted Paypal via e-mail to see if I could get a definite answer, but Im not expecting a reply for a few days yet!
Hopefully I can put this down to experience and once I receive the item back I can put this behind me & refund. At least it proved that I can have courage when needed!
Thanks for all your replies, muchly appreciated x0
