are EDF trying it on

Options
I bought a bungalow, it was first built in 1930s, it has electricity but the cable comes through the door frame and when you open door it pushes against it onto wall. I found out that EDF own the cable so rang them and at first was told that they would move it free as its not good having cable though door frame. They sent out engineer who took back report but then I heard nothing for months, when I did manage to track them down about it they were still arguing over who would pay. I kept on about it and now there sending out a guy to workout the cost of moving cable from door to outside in a box. I dont think I should be charged for this as its not overly safe like this I cant do anything with cable as they own that part of the cable

If it's inside your house, and 'past' the meter, it's your responsibility sadly.

It's a 1930's house, meaning the meter is most likely inside the house so we can't assume it is either before or after the meter unless the OP says.

Plenty of 1930s homes have the meter outside...

Hi mrlewisuk - I reckon you should make a complaint in writing as live feed cabling that is constantly being stressed by an opening door is a fire hazard

When we moved into this semi some years ago, the Electricity was fed on an overhead line to the house next door, and our meter supply was by way of cables laid across next door's loft, then thro' the party wall and across our loft - If I'd wanted to start a cannabis farm I had 30' of live unmetered cable from which I could steal electricity - However when a showed this to a mate in the Fire Service, he went ape and a letter had engineers out changeing the set-up within 3 days.
