hi - first time posting, sorry its a bit long winded but i wanted to let you know about my recent experience with O2

i know its rare for people to write about a company to compliment them but i just wanted to share my recent experiences with O2 as it might be useful for anyone with another provider who might be thinking of leaving due to poor customer service, not mentioning any names *cough* orange *cough* :)

i recently decided to upgrade to blackberry storm and after checking out the options on O2's website they were a bit more expensive than t mobile to i rang them to see if they could match t mobiles offer - which they did. awesome.
this did mean i would have to go onto a new 24month contract that was about £10 higher than the contract i have now but i expected to pay more for a brand new phone so that was fine.
but there was an error and i was sent a bold 9700, i realised this after i checked the online tracker so rang O2 but they said because the order had already been processed i would just have to wait and send it back, which was a bit annoying but s*it happens. this was on fri 12/03
arranged a return and was told to ring back the following tues/weds to see if it had been received back. i rang back on the tues hoping that maybe it had and was told not received back and to call back middle of the next week! again very annoying! i asked what they were going to do about the fact im already paying this new tariff even though i havent received the phone, through their error and they said the would refund the difference i would pay between when the contract was taken out until i get the phone. cool, sounds fair enough to me.
ring back and am told that phone has been received back, great so im thinking finally im gonna get my blackberry storm - no, i have to ring back next friday as the phone wont be in stock until then.
so today i decided actually cant be bothered with all this hassle and rang O2 to say actually ive changed my mind, i want to keep my old phone and stay on my old tariff.
they said that was fine, id get refunded the difference and i would go back onto my old plan.

i know it doesnt start off that well, but whenever ive rung O2 i get through to someone pretty much straight away, to a person in a call centre in england and they have always sorted out my problems there and then.

i hope this info is useful to someone and despite the fact i did have a bit of hassle getting the phone i wanted overall i am satisfied with the way O2 has dealt with everything and the people in the call centre are always friendly and helpful in my case

Probably Scotland quite a lot of the time actually :T

I used to work for them - nice to hear there are happy customers amongst the load of angry ones I used to deal with :D
  • I second the opinion of the OP. The others are rubbish in comparison, you get what you pay for.

Didn't know they had a call centre in Belfast - is it O2 or is it outsorced via Ventura?

I worked in Glasgow and I knew of Leeds & Bury which were O2 operated (along with Glasgow) and Preston Brook and Manchester which were Ventura. Sure there was another too.

I'll agree, never had a single problem with O2, been with them for years and wouldnt think of changing to another provider from some of the horror stories I've heard.
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)
