Hi All,

I have a date coming up with a young lady and need suggestions for a nice meal around the Dursely, Stroud or Stonehouse area. Living in Bristol, I don't really know what's up there. Any suggestions? Type of food not important, as long as it's not fish!

Thanks in advance,
Stephen

why not just invite her round to yours and cook one yourself- make sure you tidy house before hand- alot cheaper

I could do, but as we met through the internet and have yet to meet face to face, would you want to go round to a strange bloke's house? I thought it would be easier for her if I drove up to the area where she lives, rather than drag her all the way down to see me.

    Cheers,

i was gonna suggest the same, but you might not be any good at cooking - in which case i'd advice against it!!

I can do some basic stuff, but I'm no Jamie Oliver! I'd rather not invite her around for the reasons detailed above. It would be a bit intimidating to be invited into a man's house, especially one you've never met face to face before. I could be a complete psycho (although I'd like to think I'm not ;))

    Cheers,

if you met her through internet this totally changes position not only for her but for also you. before you let her into home or disclose too much personal information make sure you can trust her etc. the safety/protection issue works both ways. going to her area shows respect etc (the usual)

Indeed. I even went to the extent of setting up a seperate email address :D So far, she knows that and my mobile number. I was thinking of going to her area to make her feel more at ease with being on home ground. I'm trying to think of all the things that would make me feel more relaxed and cover them all off :)

She will feel safer on her own ground and more importantly if you meet in a public place with lots of people and where there is plenty of light. how will you recognise each other? will she be going to resturaunt/pub etc first. lots of women and men feel uncomfortable sitting in pub on their own.

I'll work that one out when I figure out a venue :) The last time I went through this, I arranged to meet the young lady outside at a given time. In fact, I was kept waiting. ;) That one never got beyond one date, as I started dating a friend shortly after. That was a year ago, so this is my second attempt. Was easier last time, as we were both pretty local, this time the young lady is 20 miles away.

    Cheers,

    Hi,

The Old Nelson near tesco in Stroud is nice. I don't come from there but my mum does and when visiting her we had a lovely meal there and it was a great price.

    Hope this helps,

  • My rule of 1st dates - go to an italian. Nearly everyone can find someone they like there and girls usually like pasta. Pizza hut doesn't count, as it's chavvy.

Ensure you pay for the meal, don't go halves. I still get stick from my gf about how I accepted when she offered to go dutch.

Here's a few restraunts in Stroud:

    This one sounds nice:
