My partner is becoming self employed next month and his contract with Orange is up for renewal. At the moment is pays £25 per month for mix of texts and minutes. For his business he would like to have 3G (if that means internet access?) on his phone plus he will be making more calls to customers etc.
He is not much of a texter so probably only needs around 200 per month but will need minutes - the more the better to both mobiles and landlines and he will need to pick up and send emails and get on networking sites.
Is he best to tell Orange of his needs or are they good deals out there?
Ideally not looking to spend more than £30 per month and 18 month contract preferable.

Thanks

Is he looking to get a new handset or just a new SIM/contract?

How many more minutes does he need? You can get 500+ minutes plus Internet on a SIM only deal for < £25 with all networks.
  • He needs a new phone as his is on its last legs - prob needs about 500 mins

The Sony Ericsson Elm is looking to be a good handset for someone who wants calls, texts and a standard button phone with good features. Not sure about the 3g on the handset though. For touchscreen, the Sony Vivaz is a very good phone, all the latest features and definitely 3g. But with him using it for business, some people don't really want to be messing about with a touchscreen phone. Personal preference really.
I'd probably for your partner be looking towards one of the Racoon plans, 400mins, 300 texts and unlimited landline calls is £25 p/m on an 18 month contract at the moment. Maybe if you negotiated with them they could do free internet or more minutes?
