I had one of these with my Nationwide account as Doucam says it is not needed to log only to make a payment or alter an existing one. They are very easy to use.:pB&SC No. 298

Urgh. Lucky you...........
My Co-Op doesn't need one but Mums (full) Barlcays account does. Basically, they want your password, pass code, pass number, account number, PIN number and number from this device plus your pant size, all in the name of security and protecting 'your' money!
Phew, at least it does not need a blood sample, that could get confuseing

Thats it, i am done, Blind-as-a-Bat has left the forum, for good this time, there is no way I can recover this account, as the password was random, and not recorded, and the email used no longer exits, nor can be recovered to recover the account, goodbye all ………….

I think even the basic Barclays account does that once you have set it up for card/pin access?
Not sure as I've not upgraded mine to use the card/pin reader yet. All the things that need that (DD/SO's etc.....) to set up go from my old Nationwide account atm.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

blind, you don't need the security card reader to log on to the account, it is just needed if you want to set up or amend standing orders and so on.
I have used it a couple of times now, and it is really easy.
And interesting that on the back of the letter, explains some of the issues, but not all of them.I had one of these with my Nationwide account as Doucam says it is not needed to log only to make a payment or alter an existing one.
I will need one then, as i do a few, is it every time you make a paymant, or just to set it up first time?Thats it, i am done, Blind-as-a-Bat has left the forum, for good this time, there is no way I can recover this account, as the password was random, and not recorded, and the email used no longer exits, nor can be recovered to recover the account, goodbye all ………….

"may"?????For the moment, you may be asked to use the Card Reader when you do the following tasks:
* set up or amend standing orders
* set up, amend or make bill payments
* set up, amend or make funds transfers.
Not overly clear.
